Hollywood Studios Re: Hollywood and Vine Character meal??

Looking for somthing for the group going down to Disney in Jan of 2018 and was considering the Hollywood and vine character meal. That is about the only place at Hollywood studios we have never tried. We are even considering doing the Fantasmic meal combo deal. I have found nothing but bad reviews, these were from years ago around 2010. Was wondering if anyone has been there in the past few months and what did you think, it's not a cheap meal by any means.

We did the Spring Dine in 2016 and enjoyed it. The food wasn't overly memorable, but tasty. The characters made the meal! They were dressed in their spring attire - Daisy Duck greeted everyone at the door when we went. Minnie, Mickey, Goofy & Donald (can't remember if Pluto was there) worked the room and were a lot of fun - and we're two adults! We are going again at the end of September and are hoping for their Halloween costumes since we won't have time to do MNSSHP.

Thank you for the up date, like I said we are just looking for things we never have done before. With our party size of 14 and many of them teens and younger children fancy foods is not a priority. I just want a good meal and characters for the little ones. I also saw starting in September Minnie and friends will be the characters for lunch as well.
