Default New Vs Old Magic Band

Does anyone know if there are any differences in the capabilities of the two types of magic bands? I have a limited edition in the old style that is my favorite to wear, but I also have a few sets of the new ones and I just wondered if there were any advantages to the new style over the old as far as features?

I think the only difference is the customization options with the new ones. Otherwise I think they are the same.

The new ones have a greater range for sensing. Bigger antenna, I think. Anyway, they can be "read" at the end of Small World, for instance: you might see your name displayed.

The functionality of MB 1.0 and MB 2.0 are identical. The internals have not changed - only the form factor is different. There was initial speculation that since the new bands are a bit larger, they might have increased the range of the long-range transceiver, but I'm not sure that's the case. Except for the ride photos at 7DMT and a couple others, Disney seems to have backed off on using the long-range chip very much.
