Sunday October 8th-

It's always tough to sleep in an odd place and that was the case a bit. We all struggled a bit (and there was snoring.). We were up in good time though and they brought us an amazing breakfast tray-each tray had a small omelette, toast, croissant, cereal, a piece of cake, juice, milk, coffee. WAY too much for one person to eat.

We headed out by foot and walked to the Spanish Steps and climbed away. Then we tried to go to Bascillica Santa Maria Maggiore but it was 9:30am and there was a 10am mass. There was a VERY long line and a metal detector so we decided we probably didn't have time. Then we walked to the Colosseum, it was crazy busy. Not sure if it was because it was Sunday or just a very nice day but it was like people touching you busy. We waited in a fairly long line to get in (security again) but it moved fast and we were in in about 30 mins. We spent about an hour there and had another predownloaded audio tour. It was a very neat expierence. I'd like to go back and pay for a more enhanced tour.

As usual finding a restroom was one of our biggest problems. Usually when we did locate one it was a 20 min or more wait so keep that in mind.

We left and walked down to Vittoriano and the Trevi fountain and ate a really bad lunch at a way too crowded McDonalds. There was a single stall restroom and we waited about 30 mins to use it. After that we walked around a bit more over to the Piaza Navona. Lots of people here too, but also some interesting people watching times.

We were pretty dead by then and headed back to our room to rest a bit. It was around 5pm. We headed back out at 7:15 to a very close restaurant that opened at 7:30. We were glad we got there early as it was mostly booked with reservations but they had room for us. We had an exception dinner. I had some nice wine (again, cheaper than water) and we split a pizza appetizer. I had pasta with clams, mom had ravioli bolognase and dad had a spicy pasta with bacon. It was all very good and we really enjoyed being together. We waddled back to our room and slept pretty darn hard.
