    Default Primeval Whirl???

So, we are at AK today. We had just gotten off Primeval Whirl, and we noticed a large group of manager-type employees. But, they seemed more important. Some had blue prints, some were taking pictures, multiple were taking notes, some even sketching, and one was leading the discussion. The focus was around Primeval Whirl.

So, maybe a rehab w overhaul or scrap of this ride? Or, is this a rumor already known, and I am so far out of loop, I didn't Know?

BTW, this ride today had the quality of the crazy mouse at the county fair. It was horribly jerky to the point of pain!

They should scrap it. That whole area. AK is generally hard on the back (the safari).

    Thanks for the report.

Funny, that is why my 67 year old father loves it. It reminds him of the roller coasters they had at county fairs when he was a kid.

One of our favorite rides! Maybe not a great themed area but the physical effect of the ride is thriling and fun!

Just kidding, but not by much.

As was stated earlier, this whole area needs a rethink & redesign. And yes, I know the setup, backstory, and theme for this area, but really? That's the best they could do? There's an awful lot of land there for something way better than what's there now. Let the Imagineers have some latitude & a nice budget and see what they can come up with.

    BOOM.

RunDMV is right. I can go to the local mall in the bario and go ride some rides that are held together by duct tape and get the carnival experience. I'm not paying top dollar for that. If I wanted six flags, thats like 20 minutes from my house. Disney I go for experience, theme, and the FW Festival. So, it needs to fit in there somewhere. Exposed support struts and no theme? Forget about it. Not to mention, I 2nd the bruised kidneys. There isn't a bathroom close enough for that ride.

Unfortunately, it isn't at our state fair. They got rid of the egg beater also. AK is the only place I get to ride a ride like Primeval Whirl. I do understand that not everyone is fond of the theming. To me, Toy Story Land looks like it will have the same feel to it.

Yeah, I don't like the new look to Slinky. Or the Barnstormer at MK. Cheap ways out. Again I ask, is this Six Flags? I want to see theming, animatronics, black lights and hear music and such. Are they going to start playing just the Orlando radio at some point?

I like the theming a lot and the actual art depicting Toy Story Land is pretty cool. We as guests are "shrunk" down to toy size and get to play in Andy's made up carnival .... I know it's not the Hulk or some high speed ride, but it's Andy, the kid. The kid in me loves it !!!

I see your point. I just equate a carnival feel w/ cheap. Disney/Orlando I think of complete theme'ing, immersion, experience, and a luxurious feel. Avatarland, Splash or 7 dwarfs, or DCA Carsland.

I know that it is not to everyone's liking, but when I learned the back story to DinoLand USA, the theming of the area made sense to me. The details that support the story are spot-on.

Rode it for the first time this past year, and I liked it. It was fun, quirky, and unpredictible. Not every ride has to be a thrill ride. I hope they keep it.

I agree with you. Once we hit Orlando/Disney I do expect that "King-Like-Feel" that only Disney can give me. They've been doing it for years !! I suppose that's their hook in me, making me come back time and time again !!

Personally not a big fan of the ride...but did anyone notice no one has actually answered the original posts query, does anyone know what those "official looking" people may or may not be up to out in Dinoland?

    Oh, I have no idea.

Gosh, till now did I take the time to read the back-story of Dinoland ... I've been going for so many years and although I love the area, I've never taken the time to research "why" it's there .... now I can't wait to get back to find the hidden secrets and tid-bits I've learned !!!

Based on the timing, it may have been to review preparations for Donald Duck's Dino-tastic Celebration (beginning Memorial Day Weekend 2018).

The latest details mention the a new DJ stage and "colorful new décor" being added to DinoLand USA for the Event.

It's rough on the back as I get older but we've always enjoyed it. You might still find some "mouse trap" roller coasters on boardwalks but my guess is that they are slowly disappearing. I think its a nice alternative to something like RNRC which is a super smooth ride. PM really takes you back to roller coaster roots!
