How's December?
Out of the blue we are thinking of going to the World in early December! Never been that time of year before, just wondering what the crowds and weather are like then. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Crowds are bigger than they once where, but are still manageable, the weather should be nice.

For me, one of the best times to visit. I generally visit the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, for a week...The crowds in the parks aren't bad at all, but the value resorts can be a bit bust with the Pop Warner Football games going on. Christmas decorations and shows all over the parks and resorts are just the icing on the cake for me. Weather is generally pretty nice -- upper 70's to low-80's for highs and lows dropping into the 50's at times. Also, it is generally dry during that time frame.
Try it, you'll like it!! LOL

Bud pretty much hit it on the head. The first couple of weeks of December is probably my most favorite time to go. While there isn't a "slow" time anymore, these two weeks can come close. The first week will be Pop Warner and Cheerleading competition, so the Values will be packed with teens. But there isn't a real impact in the parks. Weather can fluctuate wildly. Been there when it was hotter (upper 90s) in Dec than in late Aug. Also been then when it was in the low 70s for a high. Being from Oregon, we thought it was great, but there was a lot of complaining about how cold it was. As you get closer to the Christmas, the crowds increase as well. So if lower crowds are a goal, you'll want to stay within the first half of the month. After the 15th or so, things start to get crazy busy. With all the decisions and special events, it's a great time to go.

We have been about 7 times the first full week in December. We love it. The crowds aren't bad at all and the weather can go either way. During one trip to WDW , in early December , we began the vacation in shorts, sandals & summer tops. By the end of the week we had jackets & jeans and wore layers as needed throughout the day.
We NEVER had an issue with Pop Warner. NEVER! From time to time you might see small groups (4-6 kids) with an adult but they are well behaved and never was an issue. Would not cancel a trip just because Pop Warner is there.
Christmas decorations are up! They are always amazing to see and enjoy! Crowds have never really been an issue. Everything was/is doable!
Have fun and enjoy!
