Default Should I get an annual pass?

    Hi guys!
We're going to WDW in October for my 50th birthday - sheesh - splurging and staying at the Contemporary. 4 days/3 nights.

I saw a video where they were explaining that I could buy an annual pass and put the cost of my 4-day tickets towards the overall cost of the pass.

    Questions:
Would I be able to use the pass starting the first day?
Also, if we didn't go back within the year, would it still be worth it? To get discounts, etc?

We've never considered getting one since we only go every 2-3 years but now I'm wondering if that's a mistake. Any advice or experience welcome!

    Thanks!!

If you're only going to use it once for 3-4 nights this fall, it's probably not the best option for you price-wise.

Unless you are going to be there for 8 - 10 days in the AP 'year' it would not be cost effective.

But, that said, in response to your first question: Yes, the full purchase price of your original MYW ticket would be put against the cost of the AP. That is how I did it in November for my first AP. It was available for use as soon as I did the upgrade.

You can use the 4 day ticket up until the last day. Then you can decide if you want to upgrade to an AP, at which point, the entire ticket's value will be applied to an AP.

Definitely not worth it for 4 days. The discounts aren't worth it either. You wouldn't be saving enough money to justify it even if you got an AP rate on your hotel. 10% off select dining locations is nice but only if you are looking at it as an additional perk. We have had APs 2 times now and have spent over 20 days in the park each year. We try to get our moneys worth.
