Question Picking up annual pass questions

On the way to my new home in Florida, we're going to spend 2 days at WDW. The plan is to check in at ASMo and then head to Epcot and activate our APs. Since we already got the Magic Bands for the resort stay, will they just activate the AP at the Epcot guest services on the current Bands??

Also, our 7 year old will not be with us. Will we be able to activate her AP and get her magic band? I have an adorable photo of her. Would that help?

If you have added the passes to My Disney Experience and assigned them to each member of your party, they should just work, unless they are special discount passes (such as Florida resident). When we got discounted APs through DVC, we had to go to a service window and show membership card and ID. For Florida resident, I would expect them to want ID proving residence. For your 7 year old, I'm not sure what the benefit of activating her AP would be until she is there to use it.

    Two things to remember:

    1) NOTHING is ever stored "on the bands". EVER. Each band contains exactly one piece of data - a unique key code. That key code is linked to an individual in your MDE account. Each person can have multiple keys (bands/cards) attached to their account. The bands merely access the data stored centrally in your MDE account. So, your resort band will work just fine provided your AP shows in your MDE account. The band you can get with the AP is nothing special - just one more magic band. And you won't get that band when you activate your AP, either. Once activated, your MDE account will show that you have a new band that you can customize - just like you did with the resort bands. You customize them, click complete and they'll be sent to your house.

    2) AP must be activated before they can be used. Activation requires a trip to any Guest Relations window OR any park ticket booth (including the water parks). All adults must show a government issued photo ID. Some APs also require the appropriate proof that the person is eligible for that type of AP (DVC gold pass, for instance requires the person to show their DVC membership card). Minors do not need to show ID, so typically, Guest Relations well go ahead and activate APs for any minor children on your account even if they are not present. Occasionally, you might get a CM that is a stickler for the rules and won't do it without the child present.

    Hope that helps.

If you're 7 year old will not be there why would you want to activate her ticket. I would wait until she is with you so the date is that of first use.

Thanks for the help. I haven't been to WDW in 10 years so a lot has changed and I've never had an AP. Still learning!
