Party of 1: The Tradition Continues Day 6
Ooops! I forgot to go over Day 6 of my trip from Dec 3-8. I tried to check my luggage at the airport transportation. But, since my boarding pass I had gotten from Delta said "standby" seat to be assigned at the gate, they would not check my bag. So I checked it with the bell service, then took a bus to AK to transfer to Animal Kingdom Lodge for breakfast at Boma. I arrived at Boma with about 45 minutes to spare, so I explored some of the savanna area. I checked in at the desk for seating and after a short wait was seated before my time of 9:35. My seat was near the aisle but no one bumped into me. The buffet was scrumptious. I think I may have done 2-3 plates full of food. My plan was to get full enough to last me until my flight left around 7 that night. I left AKL and took a bus to Disney Springs where I found an empty rocking chair at Guest Relations and simply soaked in the sun and warmth for the next 4 hours or so. DME came to All Star around 5 p.m. and we were off to the airport. I got an assigned seat at the gate and waited. Then I got a notice about the flight time changing. Apparently weather out east was impacting our plane being able to arrive in Orlando. That later turned into the flight being canceled with departure being Sunday at 12:35 p.m. So everyone wanted to know what would happen to us passengers. Delta offered hotel rooms for the night, but I declined and decided I would see how it felt to sleep in an airport terminal. Good thing I declined because one group wound up being bused to a hotel only to find out there were no rooms there for them. They were then bused back to the airport to find other hotels. I wound up getting $$, mileage points, and a voucher for all the inconvenience. I watched streaming TV on my phone most of the night, and covered up with the blankets and pillows the airlines gave us, plus snacks and water. The food vendors opened around 4 a.m. so I ate breakfast then. Our flight back home was uneventful and my car was waiting for me in the spot I had left it. It was a strange way to end the vacation, but it was an inconvenience at the most for me. I'm hoping I won't have to experience any other delays the remainder of this winter.

Sounds like the airline took good care of people the best it could. That is good to know.
I haven't tried Boma for breakfast. I may have to do that.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Sorry for the canceled flight and the overnight at the airport but it sounds like you "weathered" it well!
