Tickets & Fast Pass Question

I am 5 weeks out from going to WDW. I am going to buy our park tickets online. Once I receive them & link them to my account, can I sign up for fast pass ahead of time? Or can you only do that with magic bands?

If you link them to you My Disney Experience account you can then go ahead and make your fast pass selections.
