    Default Shower installed pumps?

I know that most of the resorts now have the shower installed pumps of shampoo and body wash. I am not a fan of using left over products from other guests. Has anyone ever asked housekeeping to provide brand new bottles at the beginning of their trip to insure they haven’t been used by other guests? Wondering if this is something we can request when we arrive? Thanks!

From the cleaning carts I have seen outside rooms,I don’t think they carry bottles. They just have larger ( like a gallon) containers they fill with. Not individual bottles. One good thing is you don’t have to worry about anyone getting into the supplies ( like taking the tops off). They are locked in and all you can do is pump. I like the new products and they look clean but I wonder how often the bottles will be replaced. And they are hard to see how much is in the containers. With the new option of no maid service for a credit on your room charge, how can you tell when you are running low.

Katzateer, I have seen videos posted online of people showing how easy these are to open. I guess we will just bring our own. I am just not a fan of these, and now if you are saying that the bottles rarely get replaced makes them seem even more gross! Lol

We had this happen at another hotel that uses the wall mounted products. My DH jumped in the shower, and both the shampoo and the shower gel were empty. So, at least at that hotel, they don't check in between guests either.

I greatly prefer the personal bottles, and would be much happier if they just had bigger bottles for longer stays, would still be more cost effective and create less plastic.

I bet the offsite Disney properties , still give bottles and aren't any different in price from Disney resorts. You still get a lot of the same Disney perks, as we all reviewed recently.

I agree, the in shower pumps seem "less" hygienic than a fresh "new" bottle (although I understand it is better for the environment), like we got tin the past. I know that you can still buy big bottles from H2O online. Is the brick and mortar store still open in the Grand Floridian? If not & if I had an extended stay in WDW planned - I'd have to ship myself shampoo, conditioner & body wash to pick up in the lobby (to avoid the 3 ounce airline rule). It just smells like Disney to me and it is worth the extra effort.

This has been standard operating procedure at Yellowstone National Park and other National parks out west. We were there for 10 days a couple of years ago and stayed at Old Faithful Inn "The Lodge" and they had 2 wall mounted dispensers at the sink and 3 larger units mounted in the shower / tub area. Housekeeping came and refilled them daily or as needed and it worked out quite well. It's the same push Disney is now doing to cut down on plastic waste.

I personally like being given my own personal travel size daily by Mousekeeping, but like all things CHANGE is coming or already here so I guess we will get used to it.

Change should be a 4 letter word.

But regardless, many offsite resorts offer normal toiletries. Disney is offering them similar benefits as regular disney resorts, so why not see. I'm not sure if we'll ever come back to a disney resort. Dixie Landings if anything, but that has additional sentimental value. Outside of that, just don't think so.

I hate the soap and room inspection thing.

I read an article yesterday, using primenow.amazon.com (if you're a Prime member), that you can get free, same day (2hour?) delivery to your resort in Orlando. It's an alternate option if you find you don't like Disney's setup after all.

I looked at how they were mounted the last time we were there a few months ago. It would take me all of about 30 seconds to a minute to open the rack and take them out.

I don't like them either and I hate the body wash that is in them. I am not a fan at all.

Their PR department spun this change as being for the environment but it is really about saving money. Refilling plastic containers with soap from big bottles on the carts that are most likely refilled from 5 gallon containers with pumps is a whole lot cheaper than putting little plastic single use bottles in the rooms.

Staying in hotel rooms with other peoples germs, etc. may be gross, especially using stuff that other people have used, touched, like phones and TV remotes, etc.
Just don't even think about the theme parks, which are far worse!

Does anyone have a list of hotels that this has been done at? Didn't know if it was at all. We're staying at the boardwalk in September and wanted to know if I needed to bring my own stuff. Thanks!
