Default Grand Floridian Visit - Part Two

On Wednesday, we have several fastpasses for Animal Kingdom but they are clustered from early afternoon through early evening. Since it is still so hot outside, we decide we won't head for the park until alter.

After breakfast in our room, we head over to the quiet pool. Once again, I find the pool water too cold for my liking but the hot tub is just fine!!! Once the pool bar opens, we have turkey sandwiches with chips for lunch. With lunch finished, we return to our room to shower and change.

When we are ready, we walk over to the bus stop and don't have to wait very long before a bus is carrying us to Animal Kingdom. We enter the park just as our fastpass time for Expedition Everest is about to begin and just as we begin to head that way, I get a message indicating the ride is down. So, instead, we go into It's Tough to Be a Bug which, at least, is air conditioned. I check when we come out of there and Everest is still listed as down so we head towards Africa for our Safari fastpass. We still have some time so we head into the shop to take advantage of the cooler air there. Now, I see that Everest is back up and running and has a 60 minute standby - it must have opened just about the same time I last checked. Since our fastpass there is good for the rest of the day, we decide we'll head back that way after our Safari.

The safari ride is good, but hot, AND we're stuck in one spot for longer than usual as a white rhino has decided to stand in the road. Once off the safari, we head over to Everest and have our ride there.

Now, we still have a couple of hours before our last fastpass of the day which is Navi River. I think, perhaps, we'll head over to the Nomad Lounge and have a drink while we pass some time in a cool place. I check wait time and the current wait time for Navi is down to 45 minutes. I suggest we just use the standby line as that will get us on the ride and out of the park even before our scheduled fastpass time. In reality, it only took about 30 minutes in the standby line to climb into the boat - the standby line was a good call on this day!!!

We decide we'll go to Top of the World at Bay Lake Tower and grab some sliders there for dinner. So, we head for a bus to the Contemporary instead of the Grand Floridian. We do have to wait about 15 minutes or so before the bus comes along. Along the way, I cancel the fastpasses we had reserved for Navi River - maybe someone else was able to pick them up.

At Top of the World, we have sliders and drinks but decide not to hang out there for the fireworks which are still an hour and a half away. Instead, we take the monorail back to the Grand Floridian and head to our room. We hang out on our balcony for a while - although it's still hot, there is a nice breeze so it is pleasant to sit out there.

We decide to walk over to the boat dock and watch the fireworks from there. I didn't know they now pipe in the music to this location. There were quite a few people there but not so many that it interfered with our ability to enjoy watching the show.

The cold pool water is interesting, especially since it is so hot out. I don't think I've ever felt a cold pool at Disney before. I like you AK approach, it is just a hot park, with so little air conditioning. (but it is lovely at night!)
