The Magic Kingdom park has begun to test a new alternative to Biometric Touch Points at the gates.

An Optional 'Facial Recognition' gate is being intermittently tested at the park. Guests are asked to keep on their Face Mask, but remove any hats or sunglasses.

Upon initial use, a reference picture is taken and is stored for 30 days before the image is deleted and another would need to be taken. On subsequent visits, the reference photo is used by an automated Facial Recognition system in place of the BioMetric touch point to permit entry. MagicBands are still used in conjunction with the Facial Recognition test.

The Disneyland Resort has used a reference picture for Cast Members to review on multi-day passes and Annual Passes, but this is the first of such instance at the Walt Disney World resort.
