Thumbs up

I enjoy Alien Encounter. It is great fun with awesome special effects. It can be rather creepy at times. I would not take a young child on this attraction beacause of the loudness and special effects. The shoulder harness people keep talking about does not bother me at all. Here is a tip if you are worried about the shoulder harness: When the harness is lowering at the beginning of the show, shrug your shoulders upward so that the harness will stop higher up. Then, once the harness is set, you can relax your shoulders. However, I suggest that you not do this tip because it takes away from the attraction experience. Just sit up nice and straight as the harness lowers. AE has a great preshow as well as a great show. If you listen to everything closely, you can here some funny comments during the show. The comments are made to sound like they are coming from people in the audience but the comments are actually a recorded part of the show. I suggest you try it.

    Cool

The first time I went on AE was by my lonesome--in retrospect not the best way to do it! But my husband had to stay with our son outside the attraction, so it was really the only option for me. Anyway, I remember that experience being quite intense; I had to sit on my hands to keep from grabbing the arm of the woman next to me during some of the special effects!

The next couple of times I went on it was with my husband and I must say that it was never quite as scary as the first time. In fact, I probably spent more time listening to the crowds' reaction to the show than to the actual special effects. I do think AE is a fun attraction (for the right kind of person!) Just like in AK's It's Tough to be a Bug, after the first time some of the fun for me is in the people watching, or listening, as it may be. (The only thing I don't like hearing occasionally are the very young ones screaming in terror--it can be really heartbreaking!)

As a kid, I used to get terribly frightened by all of the alien movies (but, somehow, I'd always watch them)!

I have not found AE to be scary (but then, I know it's Disney). I think it's great fun! I love the special effects.

I liked this attraction! Although I got scared the first time I went on and made it a point to scare my friends when I went on with them. (I know, I'm such a nice friend ) Anyway, I think you should try it, you never know, you might like it, and if you don't then don't go on it again. I'm not trying by any means to pressure you to go on, trust me, I don't go on anything that holds me upside down. I don't like the feeling of the blood rushing to my head, I have a panic attack. If you do go on, let us know if you liked it!

I love alien encounters but my husband thinks it's boring. We are going in February and I plan on seeing it again.

Myn wife and I have been an AE twice. It was fun and we enjoyed it but it isn't on out must do list for the future. It is definitely worth doing at least once.

First off, I want to start with saying that I can't believe that in this topic, "sigh" and "George Lucas" were used in the same sentence. George Lucas has one of the most creative minds available to us today, but that is a whole other topic.

The real topic is AE. All I can say is AE IS GREAT!!!!! The special effects on this attraction are incredible, and it's just a great story. This ride is in no way scary. I mean, seriously people, your in WDW, you don't have to let all your senses leave you to enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, WDW magic has a profound affect on me each and every time I go, but I'm still in touch with reality enough to know that this is only an attraction, and that nothing can hurt me. Go into this attraction with that attitude, and you should be fine. It's great fun!

I had the same problem as disneydeb. My fearless 9 y/o started screaming "Mommy". I had no idea what was going to happen,so I was terrified that she was going to hop out of her seat while it was in the air. I had to do a lot of talking to get us through it. Needless to say the seats did not go flying in the air and we were both okay. This last trip I went on it without her, I got nervous a few times, but I loved it. Next time I think I can do it with my eyes open the whole time
