I will be going to Disney Nov. 3 - 9th and I would like to know more about the Food and Wine Festival held at the world showcase. I have been on Disney's website but it doesnt contain much info. Also any idea what nights e-ticket may be for. This helps me plan my meals etc. One final question will there be fireworks at the MK any night during our stay?
    Thanks for the help.

The Food and Wine festival is really neat looking, however i do not know first hand. From what i know, you can go around all the different countries in world showcase and for a dollar ( i think ) you get to try out a signature wine and keep the little cup. I am pretty sure there is food for you to buy too.

    Welcome to Intercot! șoș

I would love to try this event myself sometime!

You will be offered samples of food and wine from over 30 different countries at this event. Prices for these range from $1-4.50. There is also Gourmet Marketplaces set up by Canada and another by Mexico.. the event has proven so popular in the past that this years (2001) "Special Dinners" have already sold out!

Head over here Food and Wine Festivalto read all the details and then come on back and we can help you with the specific questions you may have or help you in other areas of your trip!

I have been at WDW three times in the past during the IFaWF, and will be there again this year as well.

The show consists of food samplings, culinary demonstrations, wine tastings, seminars and exhibits, winemaker dinners, winespeakers, a specialty beer garden and a brewing school.

Around World Showcase you will find about 25 international food and beverage kiosks, with samples avaible from about $1.00-4.50. Each kiosk usually offers 2 or 3 food samples and several different wines representing that particular country.

There were in the past several wine-only marketplaces featuring wines from places such as South Africa, Australia, Chile, Portugal and others. With themarketplaces and the kiosks combined, there were over 90 Wineries represented with close to 300 different wines to sample.

Culinary demos include short 15 min. demos as well as 45 min. demos by top chefs from around the world which include samples, book signings, and Q&A.

The Specialty Beer Garden has many beers (16 at my last count) from regional breweries(like Samual Adams) priced from about $2-$4. The Budweiser Beer School gives an in-depth look at the brewing process from start to finish including growing and choosing ingredients. Tastings available.

There are also wine seminars, meet the wine makers seminars, and the Art of Winemaking seminars. All of the wineries have vinters present at the festival, and the seminars are your chance to meet with them with your Qs.

Also, the Kidcot funspots carry on the festival themeing with food related activities designed for kids(although we witnessed a few adults getting in on the fun-thought maybe they had sampled one too many wine samples.)

Be aware that some of the normal activity around WS(like the Junkanoo bus)is suspended during the festival to make way for kiosks and seminar tents, etc. All of the major attractions operate as normal. Also, the entrance to The American Adventure is used so guests exit and enter through the exit making it quite crowded between show changes.

If you can tolerate a congested WS, then you will find the IFaWF entertaining and enjoyable as the activities are non-stop. We saw a few people who were pretty intoxicated but never witnessed anyone being abnoxious or unruly. And even though Epcot gets crowded during the festival, my DW and I prefer to go at this time of the year.

We went 2 years ago and had a blast!

I may have already said this, but here's a few tips:
-Only buy the small drink samples. The large ones will fill you up, plus you may be stuck with a drink you do not like.

-Do not be afraid to ask what is in a dish. Most of the kiosk CM's love to talk about their food.

-Do not wear white. My first sample of a Chicken-jerk kibob fell right on my BRAND NEW INTERCOT SHIRT (Lucky for me, the stain came out)

We sampled the entire day and did not get sick.

Thank you all so much. The only bad part is now having to wait until we go. I am starting my diet on Monday so as to be able to sample all the food. Thanks again.

    Question

quote:
Be aware that some of the normal activity around WS(like the Junkanoo bus)is suspended during the festival to make way for kiosks and seminar tents, etc.

Would that be the "Characters on Holiday" bus? Are there generally more or less characters out and about during the festival?

Is the Voices of Liberty schedule affected by the festival? What about the Japanese Drums or the living statues? These are activities we were particularly looking forward to; I'll be bummed if they are not there.

quote:
Also, the Kidcot funspots carry on the festival themeing with food related activities designed for kids

I wonder if that will be true since the 100 Years of Magic celebration will be going on this year. Disney's site says the Kidcot stations will allow kids to "create their own personal dreams on a paper star." Are multiple activities ever offered? (Our family would probably prefer the food-related activity. )

The last 2 years they stuck with the masks at the Kidcot stations. They did give away a free F&WF button to those who visited each country and answered a little quiz.

My first food and wine festival. I won't eat for a week before going down.

The only hard part is whether to book dinners and lunches at the resturants or to eat by sampling.

Noah's Helper, you will be happy to know that the "street entertainment" such as the living statues and the voices of liberty are not effected by the IFaWF, and their times will be printed on the guide maps as usual.

The Kidcot Funstops have been food-related in the past in varying degrees. The last couple of years you got a paper mask which you decorated at each stop with different things, some of them were food items, others being paint or arkers, feathers, etc. I do not know yet how much (if any) food will be incorporated into the activities.

I would like to add that as I traveled from funspot to funspot and waited while my DS did the activities, I found it an excellent opportunity to chat with the CMs and learn a little bit about their country and culture.
