Mickey's Soundsational Parade (coming 2011)
From the DisneyParks Blog:
Quote:
Today, we’re sharing the first preview of the artwork for Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. It gives you a glimpse of the vibrant colors and exciting array of Disney characters that may appear on the streets of Disneyland park in 2011. Plus, there are a whole lot of exciting elements for the new parade that can’t be captured in this artwork:
- The parade is an explosive music festival with thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will bring to life some of the most beloved melodies from Disney films.
- Live musicians will amplify the fun. Mickey Mouse and some of your favorite Disney characters will play live and will encourage members of the crowd to join a giant jam session.
- Lively dancers will stomp out rhythms as a syncopated drum line, twinkling cymbals, steel drums and more entertain guests with sensational sounds!
The parade promises to be the most foot-stomping, infectious festival of music you’ve ever seen — or heard! I’ve heard it’s “soundsational!”

What is up with the parades that are more like Street Parties? I am not a fan of them, in general. I find them to be overly loud and obnoxious.
I haven't been too impressed with any of the recent daytime parades in recent years, though.

I hope it is better than the short lived (many years ago) Light Magic. Or as the CM's that remember it "Light Tragic".
Just bring back the Main Street Electrical Parade.

I loved the Parade of Dreams ... and the current parade is totally cute. I think that Disney wants the parades to be completely filled with audience participation instead of just sitting there watching a parade (like the one at WDW Magic Kingdom) -- I think it works, especially for the kids!

I guess the majority of kids still like them, but my kids HATE them. They can't stand when the parades stop for such a long time, and you have to watch the same scene over and over again. There really isn't much "participation" at this point. Just a whole lot of waiting, and being blasted with the same song over and over and over again.
I wish they'd just do away with the AFTERNOON parade altogether, but that's just wishful thinking.

I agree that I am not a fan of parades that stop in one of three "performance corridors" with the exception of the Lion King Celebration.
The artwork regarding this has me excited though. If it is near what it looks like on paper, I am sure I will be happy with it.
@Michael - Agree regarding Parade of Dreams. Enjoyed that one a great deal as well as the Parade of Stars.
I'm not going to get into bashing what is currently passing itself off as a parade. Just not a fan of it. It has been running for too long as well. If the entertainment department is upset that an outside company is responsible for the success of Glowfest then perhaps they should look at giving guests what they want like something new!
Guess that is a mini-bash. LOL

I get why they would want a parade, but its not something we make a point to stop and watch. As a matter of fact, we get annoyed when we arent paying attention to the time and get caught in a certain section of the park at parade time. Cause we all know, once a parade starts, you are pretty much stuck.
The current parade is loud and annoying and I hope Disney has learned their lesson with this new one. I have been a fan of SpectroMagic at MK in WDW and would like to see something similiar here.

Agree 100%! I purposely AVOID DL entirely during the afternoon parade time. I hate getting "stuck". Ugh.
I wish they would do away with the daytime parade at DL altogether, and instead, do a light up NIGHT parade instead.

Yeah I didn't really like the last parade. I'm very glad that this one at least has actual Disney music, unlike the other one, or if the other one did it didn't have much at all. There is just something wrong to me about having a parade in Disneyland which didn't have very much Disney music.
