Default Car fire in Mickey and Friends structure!

A car fire has destroyed 6 cars on the 2nd level of the huge parking structure at Disneyland. 10 individuals are being treated for smoke inhalation. The structure has been evacuated and people are not being allowed into the structure at this time. Firefighters had some trouble accessing the area of the fire but were able to extinguish it in 20 min.

How sad and scary! 6 families will return to their cars destroyed at the end of their magical day. I can't imagine how that is going to feel. I hope Disney takes care of them tonight with hotel rooms at least.

I am very curious how this happened. How do parked cars catch fire?

Just Google "car fires in parked cars" for your answer. Jeep products were notorious for this. Lots of secret recalls like the one now for Ford Explorers. They won't recall, but will fix when vehicle is brought in for another problem. Very reassuring.

I hope those who were injured recover quickly and fully.

So the total is now 9 cars destroyed. They were not letting people access the structure until around 10pm last night. The two rows where the fire were remained closed late last night. That is a LOT of cars, as each "row" is a double (front to back parking style) and can probably hold about 200 cars. A lot of people reportedly got alternate transportation home and plan to come back for their cars today.

The Mickey and Friends structure is my normal place to park. I almost went there yesterday to meet friends in the park, but didn't make it over there. My friends ended up having to wait 2 hours in the Pinocchio lot before they could get their car.

I almost went yesterday too! So glad I didn't. Sounds like a nightmare for people who just wanted to get home.

I can only imagine what visitors from out of town had to deal with. My husband is the least patient person I know. He would NOT have handled this well.
