Disney World Birthday Tips!

What better place to celebrate a birthday than Disney World? Below is information for pre-arranged Disney parties and tips to help make the day even more special for all involved.

  • Tell everyone about the birthday, from the restaurant staff to the resort. You never know what kind of birthday magic will come your way.

  • If you are staying at a Disney Resort press “O” and ask for the special birthday message.

  • Stop by City Hall on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom and pick up a free birthday button. The response throughout the day can be fun – along with the recognition.

  • Consider calling ahead to make arrangements for a gift basket, balloons or flowers. Walt Disney World Florist has some wonderful offerings at a reasonable price. Call; 1-407-827-3505.

  • Character Meals are a wonderful way to celebrate. Tell the host/hostess at the podium there is a birthday person among you. The Staff often will have the room sing "Happy Birthday” to the special guest. Small complementary cakes and cupcakes are often presented. The 50’s Prime Time Café and the Dinner shows are other great options.

  • Make arrangements for a birthday cake. All Cakes are either Chocolate or Vanilla and come with personalization. If you want to add a character there is an additional charge. Cakes should be ordered 24-48 hours in advance by calling (407) 824-2165.

    INTERCOTee Disney Birthday Feedback

"We usually always celebrate my youngest son's birthday in Disney World. Make sure you go to City Hall in the Magic Kingdom to get a "Today is my Birthday" button to wear. This will bring a lot of attention throughout the day. My son was serenaded by a brass band on Main Street, when they noticed his button. The CM's will go out of their way to make guests feel special when they see the button.

I try to make the day extra special as well. I let it be his to plan. I also have goodies delivered to the resort while we are out. This year I made arrangements through WDW Florist and had a gift basket and a balloon bouquet sent to our room. His excitement was beyond words. He was so surprised Mickey knew. The birthday possibilities are endless."

"We celebrated my sons birthday a few years back at Magic Kingdom. We had a PS for Liberty Tree Tavern and I remember when we walked in the table was littered with multicolor confetti in the shape of Mickey's head. How cool!! It was an all you can eat but it was brought to your table. It was also a character dinner and they made the evening really special for everyone there. If you do a PS on the b'day, just let them know at the podium and they will indeed do something special."

"My son celebrated his 7th and 9th birthdays at WDW. Both times I went to a screen printing/embroidery store and purchased a red t-shirt and had them put white lettering on it. The letters said "11-9-99 Today is my birthday ..." on the front of the shirt and "...and I spent it in Disney World" on the back. It cost about $20 but it was worth it. He got so many comments and congratulations from both guests and cast members. He had cast members sing Happy Birthday and received a mug from Heather at Mouse Gear. I have never seen his smile so wide."

"We were at WDW last April to celebrate our daughter's 5th B-Day. Be sure to stop by City Hall in MK. They gave her a button. Cast members made a big deal over her all day long. Also, we ate in Cindy's Castle for the character breakfast. She received an "official birthday proclamation" signed by Cinderella, Prince Charming, and other assorted princesses. She also got a complementary birthday cupcake. (you can buy larger cakes if you give advance notice.) Naturally, she was delighted. If you do a character meal on your child's B-Day, be sure to tell the CM when you make your PS. Also mention it again when you arrive at the restaurant. Cast Members really do a great job of making your child and your family feel really special.

One more thing, we stayed at AS Sports. When I made my reservation I told the staff that it was my daughter's birthday. When we got to our room there was an autographed 5x7 picture of Minnie in a B-day card, along with some festive helium balloons As you can tell, we were just amazed at the attention our little princess received. It made for a tremendous vacation and now we can hardly wait to go back."
