<<Introduction >>
February is here! And boy does it sound like it's hammering most of us with
some severe winter weather. Just remember, while you're out there breaking
your back shoveling snow, it's scientific proven fact that time passes
quicker if you sing the theme song to your favorite WDW attraction. I
always like to sing Grim Grinning Ghosts while I heave the snow off my
driveway.
This month we'll take a look at what's going on around the world and in our
own little neighborhood.

The beginning of a new year has come and gone, and Walt Disney World is
still moving forward with news and events taking place. As we move closer
and closer to the opening of two large attractions, Mission: Space and
Mickey's Philharmagic, smaller updates are slow but steady. Our INTERCOTees
had much to say on each of the topics.
-Diamond Horseshoe has closed its doors-
The Diamond Horseshoe closed its doors on this past February 1st, 2003. No
news has been released as to what will replace it, but rumors indicate that
it will be filled with Disney characters.
"Now that's an end of an era." -Remzlightyear
"I certainly hope this is not true and if it is I can't understand why."
-Disney24seven
"We will keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers that someone has their
information wrong and that this turns out to be nothing more than just a bad
rumor." -Jasper
-New Luau show to premier-
Complete with Lilo & Sitch songs, a new Luau show is to open up in the
Polynesian Resort sometime this month. A brand new script, storyline,
dining area, and technical elements will be updated in preparation for the
new performance.
"Loved the original. Thanks for all of that news Ron. It sounds wonderful!"
-Jillpie
"As wonderful as the new show sounds, I'm glad I got a chance to see the old
show one last time." -faline
"I'll be excited to find out what everyone thinks of the new show." -MaryburkS
-Cast Members to receive new name tags-
A new nametag, complete with Tinkerbell and Pixie Dust, will be replacing
the current nametags next month. The new slogan "Where Magic Lives" will be
featured on the nametags, and will serve as the resort slogan for the rest
of the year. This slogan is already featured on the current Walt Disney
World web site and vacation planning videos.
"The new nametags and Tinkerbell icon sound cool!" -GeorgeOfTheJungle
"It's nice, but seems like they could have designed it to look a little
nicer." -rbriskey

Happy February.
As the month wraps up - so does Disney's "100 Years of Magic" Celebration.
The event was extended beyond 2002 and comes to an end on February 28, 2003.
However, The Share a Dream Come True Parade at the Magic Kingdom, Disney's
Stars and Motor Cars Parade at Disney-MGM Studios and Mickey's Jammin'
Jungle Parade at Disney's Animal Kingdom will continue after the Celebration
ends, as part of the daily entertainment offered at Walt Disney World.
As mentioned above by Casey, the refurbishment at the Polynesian Resort's
Luau Cove will be finished this month. The new show is titled: "Spirit of
Aloha Dinner Show". Reservations are now being accepted by calling
407-WDW-DINE.
The grand opening is February 25, 2003. Two shows will be presented daily,
Tuesday-Saturday at 5:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you attend we'd love to hear
about your experience.
For prices and other dinner show options, consult Info Central's Dinner Show
page.

More closings have been added to the growing list of refurbishments. Among
the additions is the Contemporary Resort's main pool. It will be closed for
renovations from February 12 - March 8, 2003. During this time Contemporary
Resort guests will have special privileges to use the pools at the
Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian Resort, and the Grand Floridian Spa & Resort.
Resort ID is required.
The China Pavilion Theater will be closed for renovations from March 26 -
May 22, while a new film is being added. The rest of the Pavilion will
remain open.
Check our Closing & Rehab page for updates.

That wraps things up for this month. We'll see you in March. Happy Planning.

When we all post something on INTERCOT, we want people to notice it. If you
have a question, you want it answered, or if you just spent some time
posting some trip reports you want to share your trip experiences. This
then brings up the big question, "How do I get my INTERCOT post noticed?"
You can increase your chances of your post being noticed if you follow these
suggestions that the staff of INTERCOT have come up with:
1. Post your thread in the correct forum. The Discussion Board Home Page
has the forums listed with a brief description of the intended audience and
appropriate topics. If you use these as your guide, you should be okay.
2. Is there a thread already posted that's asking the same question or
covering the same topic? Before posting your thread review the topics on
the first page of that forum and/or conduct a search (see the link at the
top of the board page) for your topic or question.
3. Review the FAQ-Archives to see if you can find your answer there. The
FAQ-Archives are found near the bottom of the Discussion Board Home Page.
4. Make sure to use a descriptive and meaningful thread title. Give some
clue as to the question or the content of your post. You're more apt to get
an appropriate response than if you title your thread 'Help!'
5. Try to give some of the details of your title in your post. If you
don't, these details could be overlooked. For example, if the title is
"Romantic Dinner Spot for Two," and the post simply states, "Where should we
eat?" This post is very likely going to get non-romantic suggestions.
6. Details, details, details!! Did I say provide details? As an example,
it is difficult to suggest which type of park tickets would be best for you
if you don't provide some details about your group and you everyone is
interested in seeing or doing.
