Whenever candlelight's flicker, where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present ... and this is the time for a spooktakular edition of the INTERCOT Insider!. The Insider is wishing a Happy Halloween to all Ghouls and Boils alike with this special Halloween edition.  In this eerie edition we find out what changes are coming to the Haunted Mansion, take a look at which attractions will be taking a winter break, learn how to hike through a savannah, introduce the INTERCOT Insider Live, and take a look at the latest Disney park calendars. Hang on to them witch's hats and broomsticks, cause this here's the most informative ride on the internet!

The list for Walt Disney World Fall/Winter refurbishments continues to grow. Newly added to the rehab list are Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, Primeval Whirl, Astro Oribiter and Cat Cora's restaurant Kouzzina. For a complete update of closings, including park attractions, golf courses, resorts, and beyond, check INTERCOT's Info Central. Remember, schedules are subject to change, so check back often.

<<Wild Africa Trek Coming To Animal Kingdom>>

Wild Africa Trek is coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. The new animal encounter experience will begin on January 16th, 2011.  Wild Africa Trek is an immersive experience that offers Guests a unique opportunity to enjoy unexplored areas of the Harambe Reserve and have an “up close and personalâ€� experience with intriguing African wildlife species. The invigorating adventure is for Guests who are ages 9 and up and meet height and weight requirements. Reservations are now being accepted.

<<Haunted Happenings>>

In Late April 2010, the Haunted Mansion temporarily added an interactive element to its queue themed to the lost fortune of the Dread family. The themed element was a Mausoleum wall etched with images of departed Dread family members. If Guests listened closely to each etching, the Guest would hear a whispered clue relating to the location of the fortune of family patriarch Jacob Dread. Once a Guest had listened to all of the clues, they should have been able to figure out the fortune's location on the Mansion grounds.

Based on the apparent success of the test this past April, construction has begun to add permanent interactive elements to the Haunted Mansion queue. New elements will be added to the existing graveyard area and a small new queue area.  The elements will be interactive in the sense that the April 2010 test was (ie no Spaceship Earth-esque touchscreens).  Despite the major re-work of the existing graveyard, insiders have reported that "nost" of the famous and beloved epitaphs will remain in the newly refurbished area in some form.

Construction walls are currently up around the affected areas of the queue, but a launch date for the new queue has not been reported. So far, there have been no reports of the construction affecting those queuing for the attraction.

On October 1, 2010, we embarked on a new journey into the world of podcasting. Our INTERCOT Insider Live is a round table - freeform discussion of all things Disney. The inaugural  episode is an engaging two part-er covering a wide range of Disney topics. The follow up to our inaugural episode finds the crew discussing Duffy, Imagination, The Disney Dining Plan, Social Media, Interactivity in the Theme Parks and a whole lot more. The third episode was recorded live in Walt Disney World and John, Gary, Mel & Ian discuss the Downtown Disney redevelopment, Disney dining, our favorite Epcot pavilion and more.
