--Disney Cruise Line Adds Second Hawaiian Cruise
--
Based on an overwhelming response to its first Hawaiian itinerary, Disney Cruise Line is adding a second Hawaiian cruise to its 2012 schedule. The new 14-night itinerary departs Oct. 14, 2012, from Los Angeles. It includes stops at Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai; Honolulu, O’ahu; and Hilo, Hawai‘i; plus Ensenada, Mexico. In addition, there are eight relaxing days at sea. For details contact INTERCOT's Official Travel Agency, Magical Journeys at 1-570-785-3283, or visit their web site and fill out a quote form.
I had the chance to attend the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on September 23, 2011. I still think it’s the best of the special parties. Watching the Headless Horseman come riding down the street will give me chills every time. HalloWishes is incredible and the Boo To You party has so many unique aspects it’s hard not to love.
The special PhotoPass pictures at the Haunted Mansion, the Trick-or-Treating, the hard to find characters (especially the villains) all make the evening a wonderful treat.
I found out afterwards that Mel and I attended the same night. We had a little different take on the crowds. The one thing I should have followed, but I didn’t, was if it’s crowded at one spot, move to another. My boys mostly wanted to stay in Fantasyland and Frontierland for the night. We didn’t move much to the other places. But, those places seemed very crowded. Mel said some of the other places weren’t bad at all, so staying in those areas skewed my perception a little bit.
In the areas where I was I found the crowds to be rather larger. 10-15 min waits for candy and characters. The rides early on in the evening were walk-on, but there were some mechanical problems and by later in the party Haunted Mansion had a 30 min wait, Splash was 45, and even
Pirates of the Caribbean was 20. Those kinds of numbers were unheard of a couple of years ago for a hard ticket party. Again, though, I think a lot of it had to do with mechanical issues.
Haunted Mansion stopped 3 times while I was on it. I overheard a lady during the parade saying she had been stuck over 60 min on Splash.
I avoided the early parade as it is usually more crowded. We saw some areas 4 deep, but I don’t know that it was like that everywhere. The late parade, though, wasn’t bad at all. About 2 deep, but we could see the parade just fine. It was fantastic, as always.
The candy this year was excellent. Being sponsored by Werther’s and Kellogg’s made a nice difference as we got plenty of “good stuff.” One quick note – if it’s not essential for you to see the castle during the fireworks, we watched HalloWishes from right in front of the Pooh ride. We had a fantastic (and completely crowd- free) view of the fireworks. You miss some of the effects on the castle, but if you don’t care about that and just enjoy the fireworks and soundtrack then it’s a great place to watch from.
I felt the crowds were larger than normal, but, again, after talking to Mel that must have been just my perspective and the areas we were in. I still think Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
is a ton of fun and well worth the effort.
