John
opted for a little more conservative opponent, the Phillie Phanatic who
went down in three pitches, then proceeded to argue with the umpire and
kick dirt on home plate. Classic.
Day
two began with a press conference from Kuka, makers of the RoboCoaster
which we have covered in years past. On Thursday, they announced
the RoboCoaster G2, a new robotic rollercoaster which they say will
"change the face of amusement park rides" Each RoboCoaster G2 car
is like a "robot", able to spin, loop and move in ways that are not
possible with traditional linked cars. Here Christon Manzella, Key
Technology Manager - US Entertainment for Kuka Robotics Corporation
explains in detail how the ride would work and perform.
The
folks at Kuka were kind enough to allow us to get in close to view this
incredible new ride. This new breed of theme park ride can do
people movers, thrill rides and dark rides. It moves on 6 axis.
Wouldn't it be cool to see these floating over Disneyland's tomorrowland
as a people mover? Somebody call Mr. Eisner!
Here
Gino De-Gol, managing director at RoboCoaster, is animated while he
explains some of the rides concepts and how it is easy to change and
provide a brand new sensation every few years. This extends
life cycle of the ride or can provide a customized ride for each user.
