When we first went to Disney as a child in 1974, we knew where we wanted to stay. The Contemporary Resort even today commands quite a presence. Modularly constructed, it towers above the nearby Magic Kingdom and inspires the forward thinking vision of Walt Disney. The giant 15 story A frame center piece of the hotel complex has the monorail system buzzing through just above the 4th level concourse. Take a step back and soak in all there is to see in it's majestic lobby. The resort features 1,041 rooms, six shops, two snack bars, a marina, beach, large pool and much more. Don't miss dining on the 15th floor California Grill Lounge or the fun of the first floor Food and Fun Center.

Accommodations:

Size of Rooms: 437 square feet

Number of beds: 2-queen beds (950) and one day bed OR 1 King bed (54), and a day bed, 6 disabled-accessible rooms.

Features of Room: Two phones, a table with two chairs, a large closet containing a safe for valuables, refrigerator, cable television, iron, ironing board, and a hair dryer, 4 mirrors.

Bathroom: Separate locking room that holds the toilet, another sink, and a mirror.

Balcony: Tower rooms only, with 2 chairs and a small table.

Occupancy: Rooms offer a daybed with a maximum five-person occupancy. If there are more than 2 adults in a room, there is an additional charge of $25 per adult, per night.

Extras: The morning paper is delivered to your door daily. Nightly turndown service is available upon request.

Suites: Yes - 25 with both park and lake views. One or two bedrooms with two queen-sized beds and sleeper sofas – includes two-line speaker telephones, additional telephone in the bath area, hair dryer, bathrobe, triple sheeting, and turndown service.

Concierge: Yes - 11 concierge suites. The Contemporary Resort has a split level concierge. The Tower Club is on the 12th floor, restricted access and is concierge light. Full concierge is on the 14th floor where the suites are.

The main difference between the two concierge levels is the food offerings. Both will receive daily news papers, bottled water & nightly turn down service.

Serving cocktails, light snacks, drink specials.

Sand Bar

Recreation:

For the Swimming Fan: 2 pools, 2 hot tubs and a waterslide.There is a white sandy beach for sunbathers.

For the Mouseketeer: A playground is located near the North Garden Wing.

For the Game Player: A huge arcade is located in the Food & Fun Center.

For the Athletic One:: The Olympiad Fitness Center features Nautilus,
Cardiovascular & Weight Training Equipment, Dumbbells, Sauna and

Paths for walking and jogging. Specialty Cruises, Fishing excursions, Tennis, Shuffle board, Volleyball are also offered. As well as Boating, Parasailing and Other Water Sports.

For the Shopping Guru: BVG - 8:30AM to 11PM

Concourse Spirits & Sundries – 7:30AM to 11PM
Pin Central – 8AM – 11PM

The Electric Water Pageant floats by the Contemporary at 10:05 PM.

Transportation:

Monorail: Service is available between the Transportation & Ticket Center, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot until 1½ hours after each park closes. Service to the resorts is available until 11PM or two hours after the Magic Kingdom closes, whichever is later. The resort monorail services Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and begins running at 7:15AM.

Bus: Bus transportation is available to the MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, Water Parks, and Downtown Disney.

Disney's Hollywood Studios -- 20 minutes
Epcot -- 15 minutes
Magic Kingdom --5/10 minutes
Animal Kingdom -- 20 minutes
Downtown Disney -- 30 minutes

Boats: Boats launch ½ hour before Magic Kingdom opens until 45 minutes after the park closes.

Walk: The Magic Kingdom is a short walk from the Contemporary along a special "pathway".
