Magic Kingdom

Cinderella Castle

The quintessential Disney Park, the Magic Kingdom is to us and many others, the most exciting and exhilarating part of Walt Disney World. From the moment you step onto Main Street USA, you are transported to a place where the cares of the outside world seem to magically melt away.

The park is built on a hub/spoke design (similar to a wheel).  Cinderella Castle stands in the center, or hub, of the wheel and the different themed lands branch out in a circlular direction around it.

Join us as we take a look at this special park and its attractions up close and personal with pictures, videos and descriptions. Choose a land to visit!

Main Street Electrical Parade to end its run at Magic Kingdom in October.

Main Street Electrical Parade

October 9, 2016 will be the final run for the Main Street Electrical Parade at the Magic Kingdom. Disney has announced that the parade will be returning to its original home, Disneyland park in Anaheim, for a "limited time." At this time, there has been no official announcement regarding a replacement for the nightly parade. Stay tuned for any further announcements regarding nighttime entertainment at the Magic Kingdom.

Muppets coming to the Magic Kingdom!
Beginning in October 2016, the Muppets will star in an all-new live show at Magic Kingdom Park, called “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History.”

MuppetsSam Eagle, the fiercely patriotic American eagle who is forever trying to set a high moral standard for the Muppets, will join Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo and James Jefferson, town crier of Liberty Square, as they gather outside The Hall of Presidents to present historical tales in hysterical Muppets fashion. From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Muppets will appear throughout the day to share their own unique take on the founding fathers and the birth of the United States of America.

“The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History” will be presented multiple times daily and will feature an original song and wacky Muppets humor.

Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire

Mickey's Royal Friendship Faire, an ALL-NEW stage show, debuted in June in the Magic Kingdom. Against the majestic backdrop of Cinderella Castle, Mickey Mouse and his friends welcome favorite characters from some of Disney’s newest classics: “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled” and “Frozen.”

“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” brings to life beloved Disney stories both classic and contemporary in a spectacular performance featuring an original song, memorable music, lively dancing and special effects magic.

Magic Kingdom sits on 107 acres with the towering Cinderella Castle at its center. Similar to Disneyland in California, the park is divided into six themed lands -- Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland.

MickeyCinderella Castle, the park's icon, stands 189 feet tall and includes 18 towers. Inside its main hall, five glittering mosaics created under the direction of Dorothea Redmond and Hanns-Joachim Scharff tell the story of Cinderella in 500 brilliant hues of glass.

Fantasyland Expansion: The largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history was completed in 2012, a project that nearly doubled the size of Fantasyland and delivered a new home for Ariel, new ways to interact with favorite Disney princesses, an exciting new family coaster, a double dose of Dumbo and more!

Walt's "Florida Project" dream was realized when Magic Kingdom, the first of four theme parks at the sprawling Florida site, opened Oct. 1, 1971. Walt's older brother and lifelong business partner, Roy O. Disney, inaugurated the park with a heartfelt dedication that remains today on a bronze plaque in Main Street, U.S.A.:

WALT DISNEY WORLD is a tribute to the philosophy and life of Walter Elias Disney ...  and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty of the entire Disney organization that made Walt Disney's dream come true. May Walt Disney World bring Joy and Inspiration and New Knowledge to all who come to this happy place ... a Magic Kingdom where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and play and learn -- together.
