This has been a long-time coming folks.

The idea of redesigning the INTERCOT website has been brewing for at least the last 5 years.  Many of the technologies we used were starting to get long in the tooth and the site was showing its age.  While the design was classic and served us well, it wasn’t mobile friendly and didn’t integrate well with social media – which now drives traffic for many traditional websites.

The reality is, we are still operating on the same server that YOU, our community bought for us back in 2007.  That server is now 17 (and able to drive a car on its own.)  Quite frankly, it’s a miracle it’s still running and only had one major hardware failure all these years which took us offline for about 5 days.

So here we are in 2024 and over the past 12 months, we’ve moved every other site and service off that machine and into the “cloud” so that there was only one major thing left running there – INTERCOT.

Remember, INTERCOT first went online in 1997, which means we’ve gathered a lot of content over the years.  Deciding what to keep and what should go was tough. It’s painful letting go but at the same time, it’s brought a new sense of purpose with it.

You see, when we went live in October of 1997, there was never a thought that in 2024 we would actually still be online. But 27 years later, we’re still here – having fun doing one of the longest running Walt Disney World Podcasts on the internet and running (what’s now known as…) the OG Disney World Fan site.  Sure, we’re not as big as some of the other guys, but we have the wisdom of the years and a bunch of dedicated fans that have stuck with us on our incredible journey. Truth be told, you’d be surprised how many Disney “Influencers” have told us we were their first Disney website.  We’re honored to have a special place in so many guests’ lives.

So, as you look around the new site and kick the tires, you’ll notice we pruned things down quite a bit in order to keep it all manageable and up to date.  We’re going to focus on getting you the news you need and the information you want – while planning your next Disney vacation.  We’ll also try to put the FUN back into it all.  We all could use a little more fun in our trips, couldn’t we?

In case you are curious – YES, we are keeping the discussion boards though at launch, we are still working on moving the last 10 years’ worth of threads over.  So, they are still under construction.  Would have loved to have had that ready to go at launch, but it’s turned out to be a bigger deal than you might imagine.  Rest assured, they will be returning, and your usernames are safe.  More details on that soon!
