I have finally reached the point of disgust with Disney, am I alone?

I have finally reached the point of disgust with Disney. I grew up on Disney and took my children a couple times a year. We had so much fun as a family. I would read these boards on a daily basis and watch everything I could get my hands on about Disney.

Unfortunately, the last time I felt excitement and anticipation was the installation of the cable cars. There were other times that I would follow some projects but they all seemed to be delayed or not what was originally promised. This is about the same time they started cutting out things that made the parks magical. The street performers, shuttles from the airport and getting excited about your trip, park maintenance and cleanliness, free fastpass, great food, and on and on.... I loved the bubble they put you in. Employees dressing neatly and using traditional uniforms for their land. Epcot truly being represented by their respective countries. The parks having their own identity and not just pushing the IP's.

This is so sad. I used to be upset, hoping to hear some positive news. Yesterday I heard a commercial for Disney and I immediately changed the channel. I was disgusted by the brand and didn't even want to hear it. I can get free tickets to Disney and discounted hotels and would still rather pay to go to Universal or somewhere else in the country. So sad...

I have no idea how to fix the issue. I could think of some people they should get rid of but it seems like an intellectual bankrupt company.

How do hourly cast members clock in?

Was watching a stream where a cast member said she was at the end of a 12 hr shift. As I believe many in park operations are hourly I became curious about how they clock in and out. Google says an app via tablets and computers but I mean physically how. Is there a room full of tablets on fold out tables with lines of people waiting to use them? How do 10.000 people per day clock into physical machines?

Maybe this is going to get flagged as inappropriate, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Are any INTERCOT members also members of D3?

For those who are unaware of this group the D3 refers to Disney Day Drinkers. It is a social group who enjoys 'adult beverages' on their Disney (and other) trips. They typically carry 'Challenge Coin(s)' and use them mainly as conversation starters. The way it works is members can come up to you at a bar or restaurant and ask if you are a member. If you are, they can 'challenge' you to show your 'coin.' If you are a member and do not have your coin, you buy them a drink and chat for a while. If you do have your (a Challenge) coin, you can request that they buy you a drink.

As a benefit, a lot of the members post pics on facebook of the places they visit and the drinks they have there. Their 'mascot' is called "Binny" and is based on the trash can that used to reside right in front of Rose and Crown in the UK Pavilion in World Showcase. (Much like "Gary's Column" in the same pavilion.)

To be honest, I'm not much of a drinker, but I became enamored of the Challenge Coins and have started collecting them. (I post pics of the new ones I get on my facebook page, but they are only visible on the D3 members page.) On my next visit I will be carrying at least one with me at all times, so look me up and see which one(s) I have with me, enjoy a drink and chat for a bit.

Saving chairs

Do you think it's fair to save chairs and tables by the pool with towels, bags, shoes early in the morning when there is a sign by the pool that states not to do it? If you are sitting there it's fine to save for family members but to leave them there and not stay or return most of the day.

Marshmallow Salad (aka DUMP SALAD)

For those of you listening to Podcast Episode 173, here's our traditional Canadian Marshmallow Salad recipe!

1 can pineapple chunks

1 can mandarin chunks

2 cups coloured mini-marshmallows

1 250ml container sour cream (or 8oz in the US)

3/4 cup shredded coconut

Drain fruit and combine with marshmallows, coconut and sour cream. Basically dump them all in together and mix! Hence, the Dump Salad nickname! Sprinkle some more coconut on top and serve. :cool:

Mickey and Minnie Bring Reverse Trick-or-Treating to Children’s Hospitals

Halloween is all about costumes, candy and of course – fun! But for kids spending the holiday in hospitals, trick-or-treating in their neighborhood isn’t an option. That’s where Disney is stepping in with a magical twist on tradition!

What is Reverse Trick-Or-Treating, Anyways?

We all know trick-or-treating – the classic Halloween tradition where kids go door-to-door collecting candy. But have you heard of reverse trick-or-treating? This delightful twist on Halloween isn’t about gathering sweets; it’s about delivering treats to those who could use a little extra Halloween fun. This year, Mickey and Minnie took part in this unique activity to bring happiness to kids in the hospital.

Disney has worked with Starlight Children’s Foundation for over 20 years to bring happiness to hospitals throughout the United States, as well as deliveries of themed hospital wear, care packages, and more.

“We are so grateful to collaborate with Disney to help hospitalized kids and their families celebrate the Halloween season. Our collaboration allows us to transform the hospital experience for kids across the country through play-centered programs that provide entertainment and positive distraction, bringing smiles to kids when they need it most,” said Adam Garone, CEO of Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Delivering Costumes and Halloween Happiness

The spirit of giving was taken to the next level with unforgettable Halloween visits at children’s hospitals across the country. Thanks to Disney VoluntEARS and Ambassadors, patients received Disney toys, plush, books and costumes based on their favorite stories.

These magical costume deliveries wouldn’t have been possible without support from our guests across the country. Earlier this year, Disney kicked off an initiative to donate a Halloween costume to Starlight Children’s Foundation for each one purchased on DisneyStore.com. These purchases unlocked the maximum donation from Disney of 20,000 Halloween costumes to Starlight.

And we can’t forget about the extraordinary adaptive costumes and wheelchair wraps that ensured everyone could be part of these special moments. The adaptive costumes are designed to be as magical as they are functional, with features like self-stick fabric closures, flap openings on the front for easy tube access and longer lengths to accommodate seated guests. Wheelchair wraps are built with accessibility, durability and ease of use in mind.

Mickey and Minnie Show Off Their “Halloween Best”

Of course, Halloween isn’t complete without our favorite duo! Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, dressed to impress in their Halloween outfits, made special appearances at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Tampa and Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California. With “ear-to-ear” smiles, they met patients in the lobby and visited kids who were unable to leave their rooms.
