For the first time since 1976, we’re expanding our fleet of ferryboats that provide complimentary transportation between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom. It’s my favorite way to get across Seven Seas Lagoon, and it makes the transition to “the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy” so easy and seamless for our guests.

First Disney World Ferryboat Since 1976

If you’re team ferryboat like me (IYKYK), this is a really big deal. A 120-foot-long big deal, in fact! Next year, the brand-new ferryboat will set sail, increasing our fleet from three to four ferries here at Walt Disney World.
A team of engineers and craft workers have been hard at work designing and building the new ferryboat. It’s actually been under construction at a marina in Florida, and we’re getting ready to ship it – in pieces – to our property over the next couple of weeks!
It’s still going to take some time, expertise and a little bit of Disney magic before it’s ready. We have to assemble the pieces, paint, and put on all the final touches. This process will take about a year, so we’re looking forward to launching this new vessel in 2027.
New Magic Kingdom Ferryboat

Naming the New Ferryboat

In 1997, to honor three individuals who were instrumental in making the resort a reality, Disney World rechristened our existing ferryboats as the Admiral Joe Fowler, the General Joe Potter and the Richard F. Irvine. Now, 30 years later, we get to add another name to that list!
We’re continuing the legacy of honoring individuals who’ve had a significant impact on Disney World by calling the fourth ferryboat the Meg Gilbert Crofton, named after Disney World’s fourth president. Meg started her Disney career in 1977 as a marketing manager and, after several roles in the company, took the helm as president of Walt Disney World from 2006-2013.

Just like the other ferryboats, Meg’s portrait will be found on the first deck of the new vessel. It was developed by Walt Disney Imagineering, and it will be accompanied by a plaque that will share Meg’s story with generations of guests as they glide across Seven Seas Lagoon.
“I was humbled to learn that my name would be on this new ferryboat,” Meg said. “It means so much to be recognized by the cast members I had the privilege of working with for so many years.”

Meg Crofton’s Disney Legacy

During her tenure as president, Meg ushered in Disney World’s first major theme park expansion since the opening of Animal Kingdom: New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. That expansion brought to life fan-favorite experiences like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Be Our Guest Restaurant.

She also contributed to Disney World’s Resort hotels, opening Art of Animation in 2012. The family-friendly resort surrounds guests with stories like Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, complete with oversized characters and a Big Blue Pool for extra fun!
Just as impressive was the legacy she left with the people she led along the way. Guided by the belief that what truly lasts is how you make others feel, Meg always had – and continues to have – a genuine interest in the dreams and aspirations of cast members from across the company.

Iger. The Board also intends to appoint D’Amaro as a director immediately following that meeting. About Josh D’Amaro

D’Amaro, 54, has served as Chairman of the Disney Experiences segment since 2020, and prior to that was President of Walt Disney World Resort. He joined the company in 1998 at Disneyland Resort. As Chairman of Disney Experiences, D’Amaro oversees 12 theme parks and 57 resort hotels worldwide, with plans for a new park in Abu Dhabi. His responsibilities include Disney Signature Experiences—including Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, Disney Institute, and Storyliving by Disney—as well as overseeing Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Consumer Products. He also manages digital ventures, including the collaboration with Epic Games to create a Disney universe within Fortnite. Succession Planning Committee

D’Amaro’s election as CEO caps a thorough and extensive succession planning process. In January 2023, the Board of Directors formed a special Succession Planning Committee to support the Board in planning for a transition of leadership that aligns with the company’s long-term strategic goals. At the direction of the Board, the Committee and the full Board undertook a deliberate, multi-year succession planning process, meeting regularly to evaluate internal and external candidates, transition structures, organizational frameworks, and planning for potential impacts of succession decisions across the company. The Committee is led by Gorman as Chair since 2024, with directors Mary T. Barra, Jeremy Darroch, and Calvin R. McDonald also currently serving as members – all of whom have direct experience in CEO and senior leadership succession planning for Fortune 500 companies. D’Amaro and Walden underwent a rigorous preparation process, including extensive mentorship from Iger, external coaching, and direct engagement with all directors.

Earlier this fall, we shared that Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures at Frozen Ever After at EPCOT will receive new updates, taking inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland.
Today, I’m delighted to share that you can see these updated figures in February 2026! I can’t wait to sail through this beloved story and get “Let It Go” stuck in my head while enjoying the latest and greatest in Audio-Animatronics figure technology.

Veterans, Military, and Families

Throughout the celebration, Disney will continue its proud legacy of supporting U.S. military service members, veterans, and their families – a commitment that has been part of the company’s story since its founding.
Disney is also expanding its long-standing partnership with the nonprofit Blue Star Families with a $2.5 million donation to help strengthen military and veteran families across the country. As part of this, Disney and Blue Star Families will continue to create unique events and experiences, including a special celebration marking our 25th “Blue Star Books” event, which brings military families together through the joy of reading and play. And that’s just the beginning! Additional support includes:
  • Disney will invite Military families across the US to attend special movie screenings of new releases on military bases and in key markets throughout the US.

2026 EPCOT After Hours

EPCOT After Hours

EPCOT is now offering another half hour into the night to celebrate! The EPCOT After Hours event runs from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select evenings through September 24, 2026.
Like Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom After Hours, your EPCOT After Hours ticket allows you to enter EPCOT as early as 7:00 PM. This gives you a full five and a half hours to party the night away.

Rides Open at EPCOT After Hours

At EPCOT, you’ll have the chance to look for Donald in Mexico and even learn about Xandarian culture with drastically reduced wait times, and in 2026, Test Track will be racing into After Hours nights. Highlights include:

Character Meet and Greets

EPCOT After Hours is also a fantastic opportunity to meet Disney characters in a more relaxed environment. During the event, you might see:
  • Mickey Mouse at the Dreamer statue
  • Goofy at the DJ dance party in CommuniCore Plaza
  • Minnie Mouse at the France gazebo

Can’t-Miss Jam Sessions

The party vibes are going strong at Goofy’s DJ dance party where you can join in on a fun, interactive character meet and greet with the Goof himself. You’ll have plenty of room at CommuniCore Plaza to show Goofy your best dance moves and maybe even the ones you’re still working on.
With plenty of room to dance (and lots of seating for those night owl legs), the Canada Mill Stage is a central hub to toast, groove, and maybe even howl under the moon with your crew.

From the moment you arrive at Walt Disney World, festive touches are all around. Pumpkins, wreaths, garlands, and more bring cozy color to parks and resorts alike. Even a stroll through our resort hotels feels like stepping into a seasonal celebration!
For me, it isn’t really Florida fall until I step onto Main Street, U.S.A. to see it dressed up in autumnal charm. This year, Magic Kingdom is flaunting some new russet adornments for all to enjoy. Red, yellow, and orange decor has sprouted around every corner in Fantasyland and Frontierland, and they are gourd-geous!
