A construction wall will go up this week around the site of the former Fantasyland Skyway terminal. For now, Disney will only say that the site is being cleared for "future use". Any guesses on what they will build there?

If it's not a hub and spoke ride, then it has to be a character meet and greet... Complete with FastPasses!
I thought I read a while back that they were tearing down the remains of the skyway station and putting restrooms in there, and then taking out the restrooms behind Peter Pan so they can expand the queue for the ride. I'm not 100% positive on that though...
You are correct, laprana - hopefully this will make "chaos corner" a bit less so!
Fantasyland Skyway Coming Down
I have the worst time trying to figure out blueprints! I can't really understand what it'll look like. I have no clue what to google to find those drawings that people have made in photoshop to illustrate what it might look like.
Really wish they didn't have to demolish the building that sits there. I really like the look of it and thought it was being wasted as a Stroller Parking area. Restrooms are better than nothing, but it would really be nice for a Sound Of Music type attraction - Swiss Chalet theming....
They are putting an interactive Peter Pan queue there! There will also be more bathrooms (needed those)! I read about a waterfall being put in around there? I also read about them building up the hill and putting in more trees to block the areas back there used for Haunted Mansion and so on. There will also be at least one new way to get to Liberty Square. :mickey:
They are putting those in the Fantasyland expansion! Along with Beast's Castle, Gaston's Tavern, Belle's Cottage, the 7 Dwarves Mine roller coaster, a re-theming of the Barnstormer under the name "The Great Goofini", and the Little Mermaid dark ride. I have read that it will be in a three ring circus setup. :D
Ohhhh....DH and I have ended up in that corner so many times, looking up wondering "what's that?". Good to finally know!
Rapunzel's tower, perhaps? haha
The plans are pretty extensive beyond just tearing down the skyway station and re-building the area as bathrooms. The plans also call for a complete overhaul of the area and will widen the paths there to hopefully ease some of the congestion in that corner. It would appear that the path way will also now split and go on the opposite side of the shop (Yankee Trader) and bridge there which is part of the upstairs Harbor House eating area with the new addition coming out just in front of Haunted Mansion.
Wait a minute, I haven't seen anyone write how sad they are to see it change... no, no, no I like it the way it was, I like the stroller parking, I like the old memories of the skyway... just kidding
I do miss the skyway. It was relaxing and had a unique view. I was sad when it came down. I'm also tired of the "interactive" queue trend. Are we so devoid of personal entertainment (meaning conversation, not handheld devices) that the park has to provide something to occupy us waiting in line? Don't we go to the parks with friends and family? Here's a notion...text with your mouth! A new idea in communication.
Sorry. Got off topic.
(Climbs down from soapbox.)
