Changes to ECV and Wheel-chair queues at Parks bussing areas
I just returned from a stay on the 1st of October. I just wanted to pass on some of the changes I observed to others.
At the parks they have taken down the wheel-chair symbol signs at the queueing areas for the busses. Thus allowing mom and me to enter the line like the other ambulatory guests. I applaud this move. One of my gripes about Disney is the fact I have always been uncomfortable with the feeling of being forced into special treatment with the busses. I understand the law forces the ECVs and wheel-chairs to be loaded first. No problem with that. I had the problem with being given a separate line and first to board when others have been waiting longer and if I had been in the regular line I would have had to wait for a second bus to load.
Although I did not have a problem with the new procedure. Other guests did:
One family seeing that I was waiting in the queue for the bus and made it to the loading area and would have to wait for another bus when they and other guests had to pass me, got angry and very vocal with the bus driver on my behalf.
Several families refused to load ahead of me and waited with me for the next bus.
While waiting in line, I was asked by the other guests to move to the front of the line to make sure I would get loaded first.
This was quite the opposite of the attitudes I have experienced when having a separate queue to enter.
Disney seems to be working on a fair solution to all guests. I wish them luck and thank them for trying.
As for the Resort queues; I did not notice any changes.
