Would be sorry to see this one go. So classic. I know the animatronics are out of date but I enjoy it every time. If anything were to happen, I'd love to see a Wizard of Oz ride and let that scene stay! :)

Ears to the magical pavement has suggested that the replacement, like mentioned above, would be a Mickey through the Years type of experience/attraction.
I love TGMR, but ever since the park became not a working movie studio I feel like it's lost something. It always feels like this weird, awkward, rushed experience to me now and so many of the effects don't work it's borderline irksome. And let me tell you ... the fact that after like 25 years they haven't bothered to fix the badly wrinkled landscape behind the John Wayne animatronic steams my cheese every time I see it lol
I'm fine if they want to do something else with it as long as it's great. I always kind of felt just a bit let down by TGMR (like how does Mickey get the lamest scene in the whole attraction??) so something that blows me away ... I'll take it.
if its great..GMR could always be great w updates...
And hello to Mickey.... Seems like this summer may be the last time to get your GMR rides in... Talk is the ride closing in August/September time frame... Possibly having Mickey announced at D23... and the ride itself opening along with Star Wars land...
I didn't want to add this to the rumors thread cause this seems more green lit and a go rather than just internet and fan rumor...
Please.....say it isn't so!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Has this been confirmed by Disney, or is this still a possible rumor of changes to come?
We didn't think anything else would top the proposed changes to CBR, but we were wrong.
So many of our favorites are gone, now this. Hopefully, the outside look of the building will remain intact. Little-by-little, all of those special touches and attractions that made the Studios such a unique place to visit are/will no longer there. It seems that the Studios will soon no longer be a "must-do" park on our future WDW vacations. So sad!!!!!!! :( :( :(
Um...YAY! I hate the great movie ride. I always have. A Mickey ride will be a hit in our house! Bring it on!!!

The toddler in our house would love a Mickey ride but me, this would make me sad. It does fit with the revamp of Hollywood Studios as a whole though.
This will make my daughter very happy because she hates this ride. As long as the replacement is interesting and well done, I'm fine with this change. Just please don't touch the building exterior.
Thanks for the update on the Rumour, DizneyFreak2002.
Merged the thread with the earlier one to keep all the Rumours and discussion in one place.
I enjoyed this attraction. I am open to something fresh going in there BUT that park has been so "gutted" I think its a bad time to shut down anything else.....
I enjoyed it, but it has gotten dated and stale. I only regret not seeing the version with Robert Osborne from TCM. He passed away last month and I just loved him.
No it has not been confirmed, yet, by Disney... But many trustworthy people have said it is a go... Of course, until announced by Disney anything can, and usually does, happen... and even after announcement, things happen.... But for now, plan is to shut the GRM probably after Labor Day and get the new attraction up and running in 2020.... This isn't a quick reskin... It is a complete gutting...
I keep hearing rumors about this as well, but I would imagine it will be a while before this happens. It would be after Toy Story / Star Wars opens for sure. It would be expensive to gut, and we know that they don't fix unless broken, so I'd be surprised if they did this any time soon.
The current plan is to close it this year... And open in 2020 along with Star Wars... Can things change? Sure.... Again, until officially announced, things can change...
To add: This attraction has a 24 month build time schedule... so if it closes in September, 24 months put it in September 2019, which is quick for Disney in Orlando.... Though target is 2020...
