Thanks Nanc! I am assuming that these changes go into effect Jan 1,2008?

We are thinking about going Jan 1-Jan 8 2008. I put my dates in for room only at Pop to see what the price is and it is still $82 per night. Anybody check the mods or deluxes? I was really thinking about WL since we are going in Value season but my daughter really wants Pop.

I know that we will not be doing the DDP again because of the removal of the tip inclusion. This makes it about 15 - 20% more per day and that is not worth it for us. I am not happy that they did this Oh well, it's DDE from now on
-
You've touched on the dining plans, with thanks, do you know what the room rates are going to be? Thanks!!

I am sure Nanci and the agents at Magical Journeys are really busy changing over existing reservations for current clients. I am sure when they have a moment they will provide more details.

Taking away grat. incl. will change my mind on the dining plan. I enjoyed not having to have money on me when we went to the parks. I would rather have fast foods instead anyway. Why would they do this.

That's how I read it too. Don't get me wrong, we have more than enough food with the entree and the dessert, but it's fun to try things that we normally wouldn't otherwise. That's what you're supposed to do on a vacation, right?

You can still get an appetizer if you want, the only difference now is that you must pay for it out of pocket.

I am wondering if it is worth the price with no app and tax not included. I know that it is still a good deal, but without the DDP we wouldn't do as many TS meals and would proabably save money in the long run... I'm very disappointed in Disney.

I'm a first timer but it isn't good
I have been a fan of this web site since early 2004 when I planned our first trip but this is my first posting. I now enjoy the planning as much as the actual trip itself. I have planned several trips for friends and always recommend intercot. Disney is magical but if the pencil-pushers keep making these "adjustments" I believe the magic will fade somewhat; especially for those who have vacationed here much longer than I have. The dining changes for 2008 prompted me to post. I don't know how much gratuity the servers received when it was included in the dining plan but I feel these changes are not in anyone's best interest except Disney's. I seem to read more reviews stating disappointment with service than praising it (human nature: easier to complain than praise). I am a generous tipper when the service is exceptional. Even if problems occur with food quality or timeliness; the server can make all the difference. Also, I rather enjoyed the appetizer option. We never tried to out-wit the system by using children option for adults or even sharing meals (which I guess is ok in some venues). How unfortunate if these actions had some part in the changes. Does anyone else feel the same? Am I taking this too hard?

To the MJ Team:
This makes planning for 2008 easier now that we have pricing. The rates did not go up drastically.
1 Week at Wyndham Bonnet Creek 06/17/17 - 06/24/17; 1 Week at Orange Lake Resort 06/24/17 - 06/30/17; 1 week at OKW 12/03/17 - 12/10/17

Wow, I am really glad we are getting the Free Dining Plan in September, I don't think we would ever pay for it, especially with the changes. It was a bubble just waiting to burst and now everybody's scrambling with what to do. As is life, everything changes. Thanks Nanci for all the info!!
Upcoming:
October 2013
8 nights at Pop Century with Free Dining to celebrate DS turning 4 years old!!!!

I am curious about this as well - will they be charging rates on a per-night basis according to season, or will they continue charging based on your date of check-in? For example, if we check in on July 12, will we be charged for Regular Season for the length of our stay, or will it be split between Regular and Value? Thanks for any light you can shed on this!

They have gone to Date Specific Pricing. You pay what the price is for each night. The loophole of checking in during value and keepinf that rate for your stay is no longer.

Okay, I'm pretty confused from readying all of this what the changes in the dining plan are going to be. Can someone just compare the four different dining packages and what the actual differences are in them. I'm not worried right now about the prices, just what is on each one and how that compares to the other three. This is all pretty confusing and I just don't understand why they couldn't have just left well enough alone and just raised the prices a little if they needed to do that. Are all of the restaurants available on all the plans or are there going to be some that will be available on one and not the others?
