    Question Sheraton Safari

    Hello!

My sister and I will be checking into the Sheraton Safari Feb. 7 -10 for a long birthday weekend. Has anyone ever stayed here? How are the busses??? Also, did they have a place to store luggage on checkout day? We have a late flight home and would like to hit the parks that day. Thanks for your help!
    Thanks!

We have stayed there several times. It is a good location if you are staying offsite. it is about a mile walk to DTD and we always had a car. The free shuttle bus does go to all of the parks, but the departure and arrival times are not the best. We have found the staff to be very friendly and accomadating. I would suggest that you call the front desk and inquire about luggage storage. Normal check out time is noon and I think you can request a late checkout at 1:00 PM with no extra charge. We usually hit DTD on the day we are leaving.
Also, sign up for the Starwood Rewards, it is free and you get points that you can trade in for future stays. It is not like staying onsite, but it is the next best thing.

There are also several nearby restaurants if you do not want to eat in the parks..Olive Garden is right next door and there is a Girabaldi's (??) about a block past the motel. There is also a couple of breakfast buffetts (Shoney and Western Sizzlin) right next door.

Sorry to give you a negative...but we stayed there a few years back...and we really didn't like it.

The staff is nice...and I can't even really tell you what was wrong, but we'll never stay there again.

(Maybe it was the fire alarm that went off 2 nights in a row around 2 am???)

There are many other Non-Disney hotels that offer similar rates...I'd reccomend any of them.

...again, sorry for the negative report

Just an update FYI - The Sheraton Safari was great!! I enjoyed my stay here much more than I enjoyed Pop Century. It is much smaller and much more relaxing! The staff is wonderful and there was always cookies and lemonade waiting for us in the lobby. The pool is a decent size with a water slide and was soooo warm. The hot tub....!! It was a little inconvenient to have scheduled times for the busses to the parks, but I always had a seat!!! The busses are much nicer than Disney's!!! I highly recommend the Sheraton Safari!!! We had a great time!
    Thanks!

    Hi April!

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear you had such a good experience! My dad is starting to make noises about a family trip to WDW, so we're starting to look at our lodging options. We'll definitely keep this one in mind.

I never look back, darling! It distracts from the now.
