    Talking Duh, people!

I was at the liquor store this past weekend and had a very amusing, but clueless checkout clerk.

I was buying some wine and she asked for my ID (still a thrill). So my license has a nice little sticker on it that says 'organ donor'. The clerk gets all bubbly when she sees that and says, 'Wow, that's wonderful that you're an organ donor. What organs have you donated?"

    Duh!

She must have donated her brain. Maybe her common sense.
    She made my day.

I wonder what she would have said if you replied "Well, I donated the organ at First Presbyterian Church, and Saint John's Lutheran, and I'm working on donating one to Saint Mary's Catholic next month...."

I guess it could have been worse if you had gotten the same question from a neurosurgeon....

K, Not a blonde here, but the question makes sense to me.
When you request to be a donor they specifically ask you what organs you'de like to donate. She probably meant eyes, heart, liver???
    Sorry

I guess it's funny.......but honestly, there are many LIVING people who HAVE donated organs (kidneys, lungs, liver) so the question isn't that stupid. Maybe my husband was her teacher and she knows he did donate an organ. You never know........

It took me a few minutes to compose myself long enough to read your post to my boyfriend.

there are many LIVING people who HAVE donated organs
I see your point - I didn't think of that.

I've got one. (I'm a doner too). About ten years ago, I wrote to a medical school here in Az. offering a complete cadaver donation. Well, after sending off the papers, I finally recieved a nice letter from them declining my generous offer, - "I don't meet their criteria". Seems they want cadavers that have all their original body parts. (I have two knees, a metal ankle, rods in the back, etc......).

I showed the letter to DH who said, "O.K., we go for salvage". I'm now afraid to die.
