Default Pirate Themed Rooms coming to Caribbean Beach & Changes to Dining Plan in 2009

Saw this article from the Orlando Sentinel on these changes:

Pirates of the Caribbean Beach Resort

    by Scott Powers
    Orlando Sentinel's Tourism Central Florida
    July 30, 2008

Walt Disney World has unveiled a rendering and a few details of some retheming and renovations in the works for Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort -- theming it after the hugely-popular Pirates of the Caribbean ride/movies/games franchise. Beds that look like ships. Dressers that look like old crates. Curtains that look like tattered sails.

Disney is planning the look for 384 rooms in the Trinidad South Village Area, set to be ready sometime next year. The resort has a total of 2,112 rooms.

    Concept Art

Walt Disney World also is announcing some changes in its Magic Your Way plan, to include Quick Service Dining beginning Jan. 11. Vacationers can get two quick-service meals and two snacks for each night of their stay in a Disney resort hotel, plus a refillable drink mug for unlimited refills of non-alcoholic beverages at Disney resort hotels.

Clients who book through Walt Disney Travel Co. also will receive a new benefit -- 30 minute play-cards for Disney's resort hotel video arcades.

Quick service dining seems like a good idea. If you plan on eating mostly CS meals anyway, it might be worth it, depending on the price.

Hehehe! How right you are. Eventually he had to get something right!

I like the room theming but it does look a bit over the top. But it would be fun to stay there.

I also like an all CS dining plan. We're doing mostly CS this year as I'm tired of being constantly tied to ADR's and thought we'd go with something a bit different. My fav feature of the DDP is that it's all pre-paid and an all CS plan would still fit that criteria for us.

Pirate themed rooms would be cool. We might have to consider staying at Caribbean Beach if they theme the rooms.

    Forget it....I could not wait!!!

We have been talking about going next fall provided DH's work schedule complies....Well, I just called and booked a couple of weeks late Sept/Oct 2009!!! I have booked us in at CBR, preferred room and requested the Trinidad South section!!!!

Can you all sprinkle me with a little that the rooms & pool will be completed in time and that my jumping the gun will result in a cool pirate-themed room?! Oh, and I am also hoping that free dining will be offered next Sept! (I am asking a lot, I know, but it is Disney and dreams can come true there, right?)

Just a random thought to throw out, but it seems this new "basic" dining plan is being introduced so it can be used as the new giveaway so that next september they don't have the massive reservation problems for table service restaurants...

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the preferred rooms were all located in Martinique and Trinidad NORTH. Unless they change the new pirate themed rooms to preferred then booking a preferred room would not get you one of these new rooms, which are said to all be located in Trinidad SOUTH. Otherwise I am sure that the pool will be ready by your trip next year. Rumor has it that the pool may be finished as early as late next month. I would guess that it is a good chance the rooms will be completed by then as well. We are hoping to stay here in the near future as well, but like you we want to hold out for the new pirate rooms. Good luck with your plans.

I am chancing it, we were talking about going then anyway, so I will just roll the dice and see what happens. I can't imagine them NOT making the pirate room preferred, if not charging more for them as they do with the family suits at the All Star.

There is no guarantee for the rooms and I will just have to keep my eyes open for future announcements regarding them. I have voiced my requests with Disney and will see what happens.

Good luck Lea-Ann! I know how much my boys would love to stay in one of these rooms as well. I agree that Disney will most likely charge more for these rooms. Just keep an eye out for when the new room catagory is announced that way you can hopefully snatch one up. I wonder how fast these rooms will book once finished. Hopefully there will be a way for you to actually book a priate room and not just book preferred and end up with whatever you get. If not for the pirate room, there are many other resorts in Disney that we would rather stay at.
