    Default Virgina, Carolina's rentals?

This summer we have decided to rent a house along a beach in either one of these states. We have friends that live in Norfolk and live 3 blocks away from the ocean so they want to go away from their area. There will be 3 families with a total of 12 people. There are requests for a pool at the house for those who do not want to go swimming in the ocean. Can any one recommend an area that it not to expensive to stay at and tell me all about it.

I recommend Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Close enough to Myrtle Beach to take advantage of all it has to offer, and far enough away from all that chaos. Lots to do around the Ocean Isle/Holden Beach/Sunset Beach area as well.

Ditto to Ocean Isle Beach. DH grew up going to OIB. When we got married, DS and I joined them on the annual excursion. It is quite, but like the pp stated, close enough to everything you could want. There are a number of rental companies and a wide variety of houses to choose from.

I recommend Surfside Beach in S.C. It is just south of Myrtle. It is a family beach and there are no high rises, just condos and homes. There are a few places to eat in the beach area and you are close enough to Myrtle's offerings. We have stayed there for several years and love it.

I suggest the Isle of Palms, SC area!!! It is such a nice quiet area, but is also literally a few minutes from Patriots Pointe and downtown Charleston. This is definitely on my list of locations to return to!!!

I sent you a PM with a link to the house we stayed in this past summer. There were about 13 of us (3 were kids under age 8 -- and one was an infant). It was in the Outer Banks, right across from the ferry to Ocracoke. We came from Philly and it took us 12 hours to drive there. It is a fantastic house, with a pool, hot tub, media room, large kitchen with panaramic view, and right on the beach with no dunes (i.e. you don't have to hike over hills to get to the beach).

We usually stay in Surfside or Garden City in Myrtle Beach and they are nice and not as crowded as the main strip. We have always had a private pool, too.

The Outerbanks and Southern Outerbanks areas of NC are absolutely beautiful. Now, it isn't Myrtle Beach. There are no huge shopping venues, no malls, no large mutliplex cinemas.....no high rise hotels....none of the commercialism of the Myrtle Beach area. Being 45 minutes from the Atlantic Beach area of NC and an hour from Emerald Isle (A beautiful area) makes me biased.
