    Default Main Street Barber

Looking for some info on the barber shop on Main Street. I have read tid bits here and there and it sounds like it may be something fun for boys in the family. Where is it? How much does it cost? Is there a long line? Are any times of the day better or worse?

The barber shop is in the furthest left corner of the entry square on Main Street, right next to the firestation where the parade float come out. It's kinda tucked away, we had a little trouble finding it the first time. We had our 15 month old twins first haircuts there and they cost 14-17 dollars if i remember right. We saw people anywhere from age 1 to 45 getting their haircut. They style it pretty much anyway they want, they can color it and put confetti type stuff in it. We saw one kid ask for flames...and sure enough they styled his hair into spikies and colored it red/yellow and it ended up looking like his head was on fire. The only downside i would say is that we had to wait about 3 hours for the haircuts...at least 3 times longer than we waited for any ride. We got in line around 2 hours after the park opened, i think it was about 10am and it was in mid-February.

Yes, I would definitely recommend visiting the Barber Shop first thing in the morning, when the park opens. The line builds very quickly.

If you have boys, I highly recommend the barber shop! My older DS has been getting haircuts for several years now, and even though he might just need a little off the edges, he likes to go for the styling part....he gets a mohawk style with mickey sprinkles and a mickey head in the back.....every time! The last couple of trips we've been going on our last day and then he somehow sleeps gently that night so he can wear his hairdo to school the next day and boy does he get a lot of turned heads!!

We had our DS#2's first haircut there last December and Michal did it -- he was wonderful!!! DS#2 enjoyed himself too and we go some priceless pictures too....my sister was with us and she does hair for a living and talked to Michal as he did the cut and kept DS busy while I took pics......she's always given first haircuts to the kids in our family, but she was not upset with me, she actually loved the experience too!

DS#1 has bribed DH into getting his hair done up also.....he promised to buy him icecream.....yet to be realized by DH though.....DH got a LOT of but then they would see DS and just laughed about the whole thing.....one guy even said to DH "how can you walk around like that?".....DH told him, if you can't be a kid at Disney, where can you be a kid?!?!??!

As for lining up.......the line does get long! and if you go in the afternoon the sun is on you the whole time you are in line (if outside the door), so I like to go around lunchtime when everyone else is eating!

Your boys (big and small) are going to enjoy themselves!!

We just got my DD's first haircut there a couple of weeks ago. We spent three days at the MK...everytime we went the line was too long. Finally on the last day, we got there before park opening, lined up near the left entrance (you can see the barber pole before you enter the park -its right near the firehouse and city hall), and walked very briskly to the barber shop. We were first in line (the line developed VERY quickly- there were probably five families behind us within the first five minutes of park opening). Right after her cut, we saw Daisy right outside the shop - our very last must have autograph. We were able to get DD's haircut and Daisy's autograph within fifteen minutes! Great start to the day!

    Good news!

There are plans to add a 3rd chair to the Harmony Barbershop. It should be completed very soon.

Tucked in between the Emporium and the Fire House, you can get a haircut for a song, literally.

My husband decided on the spur of the moment that he needed a trim and so I informed him of the barbershop on Main Street. The line was deceptively short.....we still waited for almost 2 hours. There are only two barber chairs, that's why it's so slow going. BUT, it was TOTALLY worth it for us.

It was last December and while we were waiting inside, the Dapper Dans came in and gave a semi-private show to the lucky few inside. A few old standards, a few Christmas tunes. It was WONDERFUL!! It went on for about 30 minutes and my husband was able to get his entire haircut done while being serenaded by a real Barbershop Quartet!!!

    Magical!!!!

    2) They can apply dipitty-do and add sprarkles.
    3) They CANNOT do "styling" like a hair stylist at home.
    4) This is a direct order.
    5) They would be in conflict with BBB, and at a lesser price.
    6) To do actual styling is a disciplinary offense.

NOTE: With this being said, they do a great job at regular haircuts and minor jazzed-styling. I got a haircut there, but they didn't charge me for cutting the only two hairs I had left on my head. However, they did offer to cut my ear hairs for $14.

Wel worth it for the first haircut...they give a certificate and mickey ears that say first haircut on them. It was not too expensive I think $14.

The line was long at 10:00 AM we had a 1hr wait.

We always go right before the 3:00 parade if the line is short we go ahead if long we sit on the curb and watch the parade.

    Two birds one stone

Plus it is our favorite place to watch the parade. Hardly anyone stands there in the non peak season.

The boys were $14 each as previous posters have said. We went during a rainstorm, and there was no queue whatsoever! Great basic haircuts, with or without colour and pixie dust!

Didn't mean to confuse anyone.....boys hair really doesn't have much style, so I thought that would be understood as a little gel and a spike up.

As for the third chair being added.....it's already crowded in there!!!

    Question

Can women get their hair cut there? I don't expect anything fancy, just straight across really. I wouldn't mind a little pixie dust either.

Yes,they did save some of my DS's hair in 2000 when he had his 1st haircut. He was born in Feb.1998 and we waited to do his cut down there.Sad thing is we don't know what happened to his saved locks.

This is such a great place! DH gets his haircut when we visit. One time the quartet came in a sang for us. It was worth the wait. I believe I have seen them cut girls hair too.
