    Default Formal Night

    Hi Gang,

My wife and I just booked ourselves on our 1st Disney cruise in May! Going to the Bahamas! She later told me about a "Formal Night" when guests have to dress up for dinner. Being someone who really never dresses up, how "dressy" do I need to get? And more importantly, is there any way for me to get out of this and still eat? Thanks all!

We've been on 7 night and 3 night Disney cruises. The Bahama cruises are shorter. On the 7 night, they are more defined with the dress for formal night. For the 3/4 night, there is a lot of leeway. During our 3 night, our formal night looked like khaki pants and nice shirt for my husband, dress pants and nice shirt for me (we ate in those every night due to the short cruise). On the 7 night, my husband wore a suit and I a dress. If you want to get out of that entirely, you can go up to topsiders/beach blanket buffet and eat diner. There is no dress code there. It's the same type buffet from lunch, but if you don't care to miss the menu items from the restaurants, go for it! Hope this helps!

The "formal night" is not what I thought it would be. There were people all decked out in Tuxedos and gowns, but, I also saw khakis and dress shirts.

There is still food available as there is ALWAYS food available!!!! I am sure I gained 5 pounds on the cruise!

To be honest, I had to leave the formal night cause of the sea sickness BUT, I digress, you do not have to get that dressed up if you do not want to!!!

    I hope this helps!!!

Thanks crew! Your responses do help my wife and I in planning our wardrobe for our trip! We are currently in discussions about if we will participate and, if so, what in the world I will wear! Might just try to make a break for it and continue to go casual if my wife lets me.

    Thanks you all!!!
