Water Park questions
This coming trip will be the first time we're going to a water park. I have a couple of questions.
What can we do with our cellphones? We won't be going on any big slides-just the wave pool and the lazy river. We can't leave our phones at the resort-we have to be able to be reached in case of an emergency (we have elderly parents). Do they sell some kind of water-proof container?
Should we bring towels from home or bring them from the resort?
Do they allow you to wear watershoes when you're in the wave pool?
Any help will be appreciated!

We went to our local boating supply store. They had a large selection of waterproof containers for things like cell phones, k eyes and credit cards. Some were hard plastic others were soft and pliable. They had ones that went around your neck or wrist and others that were meant to put in the pocket of a men's swim suit. If there isn't a boating supply or surf shop by you, I would think a sporting goods store would have something guaranteed to be waterproof.

We always set up "camp" near the lockers so if we decide to go in the wave pool, lazy rivers, etc. we just put our stuff in the lockers and then retrieve it when we go back to our lounge chairs. I don't wanna be lugging around waterproof bags of cell phones, etc. while I'm swimming.

We have never been to the water parks. Are there plenty of lockers available?

Unless you dont want to spend the extra money, I highly recommend you rent a locker. Its very convenient to throw your stuff into and not have to lug around. While Im swimming, I hate to lug around waterproof containers. You may lose it on the water slides.
There should be plenty of lockers. Ive never seen them run out.
I always walk around barefoot so I dont know about watershoes.
I bring a resort towel.

I wouldn't risk a cell phone in the water, no matter how waterproof the container claims to be. You could leave them in a locker, or let the group at home know you'll be at the waterpark for a day, and to leave a message if they need you.
You can wear watershoes on the slides, not a problem at all.
We brought towels from the resort, but if you're driving and you have the room, I would bring some bigger ones from home.

When we went we rented a locker. Very handy. You can go back as much as you want and check your phone. Tie or pin your key to your suit. And definately wear watershoes! The bottoms of the wave pool and lazy river are rough!

Oh - and we brought our own towels. They were just nicer! You can rent towels from there.

We have been to the Disney water parks many times through the years. On our very first trip we rented a locker to keep our cell phone, key to the world cards, cash, car keys, etc. We found it was kind of a pain and really inconvenient to have to go back and forth to the locker from our chairs on the beach area.
On every trip since then, we establish our "base camp" on the beach, and just bury our valuables in the bottom of our beach bag covered with some other towels, etc. No one has ever tampered with anything. (knock on wood). Not that it couldn't happen of course, but I think the risk of theft at TL or BB is far lower than the risk of losing something in one of the pools, lazy river of the slides, even if it was in a waterproof container. Lanyards can break, and it might be impossible to track down where you had lost something. So if you're really worried about losing something rent a locker. We have just opted for the convenience of stashing our phones, etc. at our chairs and have never had a problem.

We put our cell phones in a locker. We don't mind being out of reach for a couple of hours. We call it a vacation.

I go to the waterparks A LOT and I always put my cell phone in a ziplock bag, put the ringer on vibrate or silent, and put it in the bottom of my beach bag. Never had a problem. I did purchase one of the water RESISTANT (they are not waterproof) plastic cases, but I HIGHLY recommend you also take a ziplock bag, put your money, credit cards, etc. in that and then put the bag in the plastic case. Also, if you do this, put the case on your wrist, not around your neck, as it WILL come off at some point in the water and you will end up chasing it.
-
Oh, I forgot-towels. Take your own beach towels. You will appreciate having a larger towel to put on the plastic loungers/chairs when it gets hot. If you don't have room in your bag, wrap it around you and tie it off. It is difficult to wear the shoes in the big pools due to the waves, but they're okay elsewhere.

Thank you all!

I have seen so many people move other people's stuff off chairs and take them over that I would not risk leaving any valuable stuff there. The lockers are not that inconvenient and a much safer and better option.
