Default We Be Trippin with the Teens Day 7

Day 7- Disney Hollywood Studios, MK EMH
    ME
    DW
    DS - 13
    DD - 13
    Home: Boston, Ma
Staying at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge
    July 16 -July 23

Wake up call came at 6am. We all got up and got ready for a day at DHS. We arrived slightly after opening, our first stop was for a Family Photopass Picture on Hollywood Blvd and then off to Star Tours. I love the new format for Star Tours, we rode it twice before the line got too long. On our two Trips we visited, Tatooine, Endore, Hoth, The Wookie Planet, and the under water city with Jar Jar Binks. OK, so far this trip my vacation pre-planning had worked out awesome. So far we didn’t have to wait very long for any rides this trip, but for some reason, today, there was a mutiny. I wanted to grab a FP for Toy Story Mania and then go ride either RnR or ToT using Stand-by but I got push back. We ended up grabbing a FP for ToT and rode RnR using the Standby line. We waited slightly less than an hour for RnR and then rode ToT using our FP. After ToT we rode The Great Movie Ride, I still love this ride, although our driver and Cowboy did not get that into it, they seemed to just go through the paces. After GMR we had lunch at the 50’s Prime Time Café, we love 50’s PTC, we have eaten here on many different occasions and always have a great time, this time was no different, service and food was excellent. After lunch we walked around the Streets of New York and then saw Muppet Vision 3D. After Muppet Vision it started to rain, we had lucked out so far, here it is day 7 and this is the first time it actually rained all week, the weather was beautiful. Back home in Boston they were in a heat wave with temps up to 104, here in Fl temps were high 80’s to mid 90’s. Who knew we could come to Florida, in the summer, to escape the heat. The kids and I decided to ride Star Tours again, DW decided to sit it out. Next we headed over to TSM, just as expected the line was 110 mins and FP’s were gone, looks like TSM will have to wait for another visit, if we had only followed my game plan we could have rode it on this trip. We went back over and this time grabbed FP’s for RnR and waited standby for ToT. We had 7pm dinner reservations at Mama Melrose’s so after RnR and ToT we had over an hour to burn before dinner. We went and saw One Man’s Dream, and after we got in line for The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We got right to the door of Little Mermaid just to be told there was no more room and we would have to wait until the next show. This did not make sense, when waiting in line before the doors opened we were only about ½ way through the queue. How small is this theater? We could not wait due to our dinner reservations so we headed over to mama Melrose’s. When we got to Mama Melrose’s the lobby was packed, we were told they were running over 30 minutes behind. It was pouring out, people were still walking up to the podium and leaving their names as walk ins. It appears they took so many walk ins they could not honor the reservation times. As we waited the smell from the wood fired grill was so strong I was starting to get nauseous, so was my daughter. We decided to call it a day and head back to the WL. We took our name off of the waiting list and headed back to the resort. Once we got there we put our name in at Whispering Canyon Café, the wait was a little over an hour. We headed back to the room to get changed. Dinner at WCC was excellent, good food and lots of fun. After dinner DW and DS were exhausted, we were all suppose to take part in MK EMH until 3am again together but it ended up being just DD and myself.

DD and I had a blast at EMH and I loved spending the quality 1 on 1 time with my baby girl, yes at 13 she is still, and will always be, my baby girl. It was much more crowded than the first night of MK EMH but still lines were very manageable. We first saw Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, DD got a kick out of it when they put me up on the display and had the caption “Still lives with him Monster-in-laws” under it. I thought the show was great, we had never seen Laugh Floor before. After Laugh Floor we rode Buzz Lightyear, Space Mountain, The Speedway, HM, Splash Mountain, BTMRR, and then all the way back for another run on Space Mountain before calling it a night. We got back to the room about 3:45am, as expected DS and DW were sound asleep…

Wake up call set for 6am…. Plan for final day, check out and go to DHS again.

I think you are very brave ... to bed at 3:45 and a wake up call only a couple of hours later?!

MGM is so hit and miss with us. Some of our very best days have been spent there, but man, if it's off synch then it's horrible! Glad to hear that you enjoyedthe new Star Tours. Also a great EMH with your daughter -- we love the Laugh Floor!

How did you manage to wake up after around 2 hours of sleep? It sounded like you did it a couple of times, I would have been exhausted and falling over walking in the parks if I did that....

It sounds like you've only slept about 8 hours on this entire trip! It's all worth it in the end though when you're spending the week at Disney!!

    Mgmnut,

DHS is the most chaotic park for me too in regard to making plans and having them fall apart. I have learned from living overseas a while now, to go with the flow more.

And my DD is 16, almost 17, and still my baby girl! Funny she has always been the one who can hang with me when I go to parks late.

    /Cheers, JP

We were at DHS for rope drop on the same day & since we'd already had three visits to DHS & not TSM ridden once, we decided to head right to the standby line & then made our way over to RnRC & ToT. We probably crossed paths on this day at some point! Isn't the new Star Tours attraction a gem?!

After yet another incredibly long day and an hour to go until your ADR plus an anticipated additional wait, I would make that same decision to return to the resort. Glad your dinner at Whispering Canyon was a good one. And I really can't believe you pulled another "almost all-nighter". What a great time you and DD had!

Thanks for sharing another magical day with us!

Sorry you missed Toy Story Mania but you have certainly used every possible moment of this vacation! I envy your stamina! If it were me and that clock went off two hours after I got into bed, I'd still be in bed for several more hours!
