    Default wifi on board

is there wifi on board ? is it free ? if not how much do they charge ? or is there ways to communicate to home while out at sea without paying an arm & leg ? my mother in law will be home with a dog , cat and a kitten. ( the cat does not like the kitten yet , so we are a little concerned. )

    thank you in advance

On a ship, Internet costs an arm and a leg... Probably cheaper to get a new cat... ;-)

    From their site:

Example Rates for Internet and Computer Services
    For sailings less than 7-nights:

Internet / Wireless Internet Access Pay as you go - $0.75 per minute
    50 min for $27.50 ($.55 per minute)
    100 min for $40 ($.40 per minute)
    250 min for $75 ($.30 per minute)

    For sailings 7-nights or longer:

Internet /Wireless Internet Access Pay as you go - $0.75 per minute
    100 min for $55.00 ($.55 per minute)
    250 min for $100 ($.40 per minute)
    500 min for $150 ($.30 per minute)

Also, our ship tour guide told us not to even bother trying. The internet is very slow and can take minutes to load a page at times. She told us to enjoy our vacations.

We were on the Disney Magic for 7 days, and I didn't see anyone on a computer the entire time.
We did get a phone call from my pesky father-in-law "just to see if he could reach us on the ship". My wife told him the call was costing us a fortune and cut him off quickly.

Remember, ships have to use satellites to get internet at Sea. It's VERY expensive.

Just trust that your animals will be okay, or board the older cat at a vet/kennel while you are away so you won't have to worry.

    Same for telephone.

The service on ALL ships, not just DCL, is very unreliable and slow. Losing your connection in the middle of your session is very common.

As Natalie suggested, just hope for the best and enjoy your vacation. And if you really MUST call home, do it from one of the ports of call. You'll likely be paying international roaming rates, but would still be cheaper and more reliable than shipboard communication options.
