Closest and easiest beach to get to from KSC

Hi All,

It's been a while since I have posted. But our trip is a mere 2 1/2 months away

We are going to the KSC for a day, we rented a car and are driving....I want to go to the beach (even for 10 minutes - sick of being landlocked in PA). What is the easiest one to get to from KSC? Any tips would be appreciated....

I would guess Cocoa Beach. I mean, that's where Major Nelson lived so it must be close.

The closest public beach area with parking and restrooms, etc is Jetty Park, which is just to the south of the ship channel at Port Canaveral, which is on the south side of the cape, about 15 miles or so from the KSC visitor center. It's easy to get to, just use an internet map search and you'll find it to the north of Cocoa Beach. If your timing is right, you'll get to see some cruise ships embarking or arriving up close.
The next closest public beach park area is in Cocoa Beach, about 10 miles further south.

Going north the closest public beach area would be at New Smyrna Beach, but it's about 50 miles form the Space Center.

We typically do Cocoa Beach...which makes it easy to combine three Florida vacation staples... an early bird seafood dinner, a walk down the beach at the edge of the surf, and a trip to a beach gift shop (Ron Jons is massive).
