renting a wheelchair - recommendations?

Hi All!

My DD is going to need a wheelchair full-time on our upcoming trip. She's having ankle surgery a few weeks before we go, and will still be in a cast for our trip.

Last time, we rented a wheelchair from Disney, which was fine, but since we'll need it at the resort, and when we go to Universal I thought we'd rent one from an offsite company.

So, it seems that my "best" choices are Care Medical Equipment or Apple. I had a horrible experience with Apple on our last trip, and am wondering if anyone has rented from Care, and has any reviews? Or, was my Apple experience a fluke?

Heather I don't know anything about the other place, but we've used Apple 3 times and had a great experience all 3 times. We even were delivered on one trip a scooter with a bum battery (it would only stay charged less than 4 hours). I called Apple about it and they brought a replacement to the park we were in less than 30 min after I called.

your experience with Apple must have been a fluke, we used them on our last trip for my mom, and we have nothing but good things to say.
There are plenty of places down there to try, so if you go with someone else it fine, But maybe you can call Apple and tell them about the experience you had, but you want to give them one more try, and ask for a discount..who knows..doesn't hurt to ask .right?

We used Apria...delivered and it was a child sized chair as my dad was only 110 pounfpds and we didn't want a heavy duty large sized chair. Excellent service.

Don't know about manual w/c s, but rented ECVs in 2009, and 2010 for myself with no problems. DW and now both have our own ECVs, but last September, hers broke down at the resort when we returned from the parks. We called Apple, and had one delivered next AM.
I recommend Apple to any friends heading down.
