According to my teens I'm not sure they are "in style"  but if they make things easier for you in the parks go for it.

I don't go to the parks to be "in style" and don't care if I am or not. I carry a fanny pack for function, and never had a problem carrying anything (short of a stroller) on any Disney rides. Hold onto your hat though, I've lost a couple of those!

I just want to say, if you think a fanny pack makes you look like a dork, a back pack isn't the answer.

When you are Pooh-sized, as I am, a drawstring backpack is waaaaaay better looking than a fanny pack. Trust me!!!
