How to make the most of a 3 day cruise
We will be first time cruisers and due to schedules and the reluctance of one member of our party (me ) we will be taking a 3 day cruise. I've read here on the boards so many of you recommending "the longer the better," that the time goes by so fast.
Please help us to make the most of our short cruise. Any advice is much appreciated!

Time WILL pass VERY fast.
I would do excursions at the places that really interest you. If you decide against that and stay on board the ship you'll almost have the place to yourself. Hang out by the pool & chill if that is your thing.
Take in the evening entertainment. They are wonderful. Do as much as you can while on the ship. There is lots to do. You can always catch up on sleep when you get home.
Have a great time!

We just did our first cruise in January and it was also a 3 day cruise. Let me tell you it was so much fun......... Your evenings will be full of activities with the rotating dinner schedule and the shows so don't miss any of that. For breakfast we skipped the sit down and just did cabanas which we thought was great. We found they had steak and eggs hidden at the end by the pastries. At Nassau we just walked the down town and then went back to the ship to walk around and check everything out while it wasn't busy. We didn't do any excursions. We spent the entire day at Castaway Cay and were some of the last people to board back as it was so much fun. If your DVC don't miss the members party to get all the free (adult) drinks and gifts you can handle. If your not DVC yet they do the same thing with no pressure sales the next night (just don't sign up for a sales pitch time). You can bring drinks on board in your carry on but if you just stick with the special of the day it's cheap for a cruise. Just relax and have fun....
Enjoy

You could book the cruise immediately after the three day...The best cruise length is about 10 days., even at 7 days, it's a little short. Less than 7 and you're not ready, longer than 10 and you're more than ready.
At 3 days, actually, I wouldn't even unpack. The last day will be spent preparing to disembark, so if you never settle in, you won't waste a lot of time that last day cleaning up.

I would focus on enjoying all that the ship has to offer, and not so much on the excursions, unless there is one that you're really looking forward to ... there is more than enough to fill your time on the ship!

3 days is always better than no days! First thing I usually do is pop by the desk and fill out a form to book my next cruise. LOL

On 3 night cruises I tend to stay on the ship in Nassau as well. I do get off at Castaway Cay though and find a lounge chair with my book.

Thanks, everyone!
I have another question.....
We, as a family, have never been to the Bahamas before. With this short of a trip, I'm inclined to just stay on the ship when we stop in Nassau but it seems a shame not to at least set foot in Nassau. If we were to leave the ship on that day, what do you recommend we do? I'd love to still enjoy a partially empty ship so we need a short, worthwhile activity so our kids can at least say they've been to the Bahamas!
Thanks!

Stay on the boat in Nassau. There is no reason to get off there. You are paying a lot of money to be on that ship. Enjoy it.

I'd say get off the boat in Nassau if it's something you'd think you'd regret not doing later. You can always turn tail and run back to the ship if it's not your cup of tea.

Castaway Cay is Bahamas, so technically you could still say they have been to the Bahamas. We door bother with Nassau, our last trip I looked around from the top deck and remembered why we consider it an At Sea day.

We just got home from a 3night cruise over Easter weekend.
I could easily skip Nassau. Blech. Castaway Cay is a must though.
I would skip (& we did) pirate night. It's bottle rockets off the side of a ship and a DJ dance party, not a big thing.
We also skipped a dinner and had room service bfast on our verandah. Even in just 3 days we were sick of food!! Now cocktails, that's another story!! Lol
