Default Better internet connectivity coming to Disney ships?

I just read on the Disney Cruise Line Blog site that Disney is (finally!) moving towards a new internet plan, that will be a flat daily/cruise fee.

It is being reported that it will be:
from $10/day for social media access
from $20/day for basic web surfing and email
from $30/day for premium internet, including video calls

I have to say, it can't be worse ... right? I know so many people need to stay connected while on the ships, and Disney internet has been so horrible, hopefully this will be an improvement.

Generally speaking, internet on most cruise ships is pretty terrible quite honestly. Can't recall how this compares to RC or Carnival...

On Royal there are 2 plans: Surf (just enough for general browsing, apps, and email) and Surf & Stream (ok for streaming services like Netflix but Zoom/Facetime is not good). You pay per day per device, but you can switch devices as often as you want with 1 account. Pricing varies but I think the surf is somewhere around $14-$20 per device per day and Surf and Stream is less than $30.

I sure hope that they go this way. I really don't want to connect while at sea but it would be nice to have a better option than what is offered now.

We did it on Royal because it cost money to message our party in the app anyway. Plus when traveling with teens it's easier to just let them have SnapChat and Instagram than to put up with the whining that comes if they don't have it

LOL - so true... I'll never forget one of our DVC trips to hilton head, on the first day my oldest son went in the pool and had his phone in his pocket. It was toast, and he had just started dating a girl back home. OMG, it was a mess - and I went on amazon and ordered a phone for next day delivery so that we all could have a nice vacation - which otherwise would have been misery!
