Big Changes Coming To Cal Expo Water Park

SACRAMENTO--Mild temperatures mean summer's getting closer. The water park at Cal-Expo used to be a hot place to cool off but recently, it's been showing its years. Now, big changes are in the works.

The new attraction at Raging Waters is called Dragon's Den. You're on a raft, you shoot down through a high speed tube and into a crazy bowl, circling around and around a fog breathing dragon, all the while being sprayed by water jets before you finally fall into another chute and into a pool.

That's what they're building right now, and it's a good thing. The old park has been showing its age. Paint’s peeling into the pools and the old filters are struggling to keep the water clean. In general the place just looks tired and unkept.

Opening day is fast approaching. The ‘’Race for the Cure” will actually end at the water park giving thousands a chance to check out all the improvements.

It and the other new rides are expected to make this aging park hot once again.

The park opens May 13th. Entrance fees are about $30 for adults and $24 for children.
