    Default Insurance and Transfers

1.) Has anyone bought travel insurance from a company other than DCL? Were you happy with policy?

2.) Has anyone used a sedan service or another method of transportation from MCO to the port?

We are looking to save a little bit of money on these two items, but we also don't want to sacrifice convenience!

    Thanks so much!

I just purchased insurance from travelguard. The cost was $41 an adult and a six dollar service fee. My kids are included under our policy because they are under 18. We selected the gold option. We have never purchased insurance before for a trip but the plan covers all that we need in regards to trip interuption. You can check them out on the web but I did it over the phone. Reps were very friendly.

We never purchase trip insurance, so no input on that question. However, Disneys Magical Express is wonderful and it's also free. Can't get any cheaper than that. One thing with that, you have to be staying on Disney property. If you're staying off property then you'll have to use a car service. Before DME was available we used Tiffany Towncars, it cost about $100 round trip.

I just got insurance from Travel Insured International. Even though I am traveling alone with my girls(so only one adult) both kids were included free. I also was able to add "cancel for any reason" for a decent price. My mom is a 23 year cancer survivor and only has one lung and is on oxygen. I never know when her health may change from being fairly good to bad... so i was happy to get that cancel for any reason upgrade on it.

Not sure about transfers... I am renting a car for our days before the cruise(going to DC and SW too)

Due to health issues (like Scootch's mom, things can change drastically in just a few weeks, like when we had to cancel our first cruise in '05), I always get outside insurance (DCL's is very standard and does not have a pre-existing condition clause). We had to use our insurance this past February (thank goodness not due to health issues) and it put almost $300 in unexpected expenses back in my pocket. As I had booked my cruises with Magical Journeys, I arranged for the insurance with them as well.

As we travel from WDW, we've always used DCL transportation... sorry I can't help you out there.

Thank you! I appreciate all your feedback. I placed a deposit on a 7 night eastern cruise today! I think we are going to surprise the kids...if we can stand it!

We used <snip> insure my trip as it has the best coverage in case our plane was late/cancelled. We price compared and that offered the maximum coverage for all those "what ifs". We too have a sick relative who you never know what will happen. So this was the best coverage for us.

Good luck! Hope you can keep your trip a secret - we never could!!

If you book a Disney cruise, then Magical Express does not apply. Because Port Canaveral is much further than Disney resorts, there is a charge for the transfer.

    Question

Are you able to get insurance for your trip once you've paid for it. I know we can't through Disney. But, what about other agencies?

I am not looking to cancel my cruise. We have purchased on-line tickets to Universal Studios. I am afraid we may not be able to use them now, because my DH has a back injury. He will be going to see an orthopedic surgeon in 2 weeks. What do you think we can do? I called Universal...they said just save the ticket unitl his back gets better. Umm...I thought once you had a back injury that you were not suppose to ride any rides anymore. They even post signs that say "avoid this ride if you are pregnant or have neck or back injuries." I don't know if we can sell the tickets. Any ideas?
