Yes it's our favorite time to go! The weather is great and the crowds are usually thin.

The last week of October draws some crowds due to Halloween. It's not that bad as far as crowds, but the last week is probably more crowded than the preceding week. October isn't as low on crowds as it used to be in general due to the fine weather and things like the Food and Wine Fest (Epcot is busy on weekends). But it is a nice time to go.

My Dh and I went in October for the first time in '07, and we LOVED it! It has become our favorite time to be there, and we can say that with certainty after having just gotten back from a December trip.
Not that we didn't enjoy the parks in December, but we just liked the weather, the crowds and the "goings on" in October much better.
MNSSHP is a "not to be missed" party... even if you've been to MVMCP (and esp. if you were underwhelmed by it ) don't let that affect your decision to try the H'ween party. It is great, totally worth the money. The atmosphere and excitement around the park is almost palpable, seeing everyone in their costumes (and wearing one!!) is SO fun -- you'll love it. (Although I'd avoid the party on the 31st... it's a sell-out and from what I've heard, one of the busiest days ever)
Epcot's F&W Fest is wonderful, too... we didn't have the time to take full advantage of it, but it was great. I'd just avoid going on a weekend... leave those days for DHS, AK or a water park.
As far as the weather, it was beautiful... granted, we were only there for 4 days, but it was high 60's in the morning, mid-80's in the afternoon and lovely!!
And the crowds... we didn't find them bad at all, I honestly think it was busier in December.
So, all that to say I think you'll be VERY happy with your decision -- we're hoping to go this year w/ our girls around when you are there, too! Have a GREAT time!!

Yep, we love October too. We went in Oct for the 1st time last year and we really liked it. MNSSHP and F&W Festival were awesome. We avoided EPCOT on the weekends and excpet for the night we attended MNSSHP we avoided MK on party days. The crowds were fine and we enjoyed warm, but not hot weather. Enjoy October!

We love October, the crowds are low, the weather is fantastic, and we love MNSSHP and F&WF. We will be back Oct 29th through Nov8 with a four day gap for a disney cruise.
