Before we joined DVC, I would have said accomodations. But now that we're in DVC, I chose dining. We spent more on the dining plan for our most recent trip (12 days) than we spent on airfare and APs! But it was worth it to us!

For us, it is accommodations. We love the GF, so no DVC for us.

For our upcoming trip (31 days away) I would say accomodations. Staying at a Moderate for 8 nights for a total cost of $940.00. We usually stay in the Value resorts.

Default most expensive part of vacation

I voted tickets. With free dining and being able to go in Sept. or Oct., the tickets are the most expensive part of the MYW package. So, it is really not that bad.

Airfare is the Most expensive for us.. we tend to stay at value resort so the price is reasonable. But were a family of 4 and that adds up.

I would have to agree with accommodations too! We usually drive and also take advantage of the free dining plan.

Default you made me think of the math

    1) resort rate (7 nights mod) - $1200 (round off)
    2) tickets (2 adults, 1 kid- partk hopper) $800
    3) Transportation (Jet Blue) $660
    4) Free dinning (saved $650)

aprox 170 hours of potential fun (ahh who needs sleep)

Look at it this way, if you were not able to get the free dining, wouldn't the dining or food be the most costly? We have compared the years that we came without free dining and with free dining. We definetely say the dining is the biggest expense. We are greatful to be able to come during the free dining experience.

    23 days and counting !!

At $700 a night, accommodations are far our biggest expense. I think there should have been another catagory, though, because that price also includes tickets. A extra trip in Aug this year will probably make AP a better deal

For those of us coming from Europe, there's no contest: AIRFARE! This time we're staying at Pop and getting the free dining package, so the plane tickets will cost us more than accomodations, park tickets, and our budget for extra food and souvenirs combined!

I went with accomodations- since we are getting free dining. Although our tickets are quite expensive too- but I would have to include all our tickets to all the parks- including Seaworld.

Since we joined DVC it's probably the dining. We like to eat in the nicer sit-downs and that can add up, even when you're on the DDP.

I think it is tickets because we can choose to stay at the campground or value or moderate if we get a great deal or if we dont want to spend it, but park tickets are inevitable....that is why we go. With 6 people, we spend about $1600 on tickets, $2600 if we get annual passholders.

Since we live nearly 1500 miles away and are generally unable to take off more than 8-9 days straight, flying is our only practical option so airfare for the four of us tends to be the biggest expense.

Of course if we didn't generally stay in values and go during free dining, the trips wouldn't be happening at all.

Park tickets are the only thing that you can't really get a discount on. (not much of one anyway)
