    Default luggage claim at MCO

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how long it usually takes for luggage to be unloaded at MCO. We usually arrive early and just have ME deliver our luggage to our room, but this year we are arriving late and will need to go to baggage claim and get our luggage before heading over to ME. Thanks for any input.

Alot of times we have claimed our own luggage.

    I don't remember it taking all that long ~ like less than 10 minutes . . .

    Good Luck and Enjoy!

It really depends. I've seen it as the PP said in about 10 min and I've waited about 45 min to get my bag. That's why when I fly now I prefer DME.

Bags are USUALLY unloaded and delivered to the carousel within 15 minutes after the plane arrives at the gate.

HOWEVER.... (don't you hate that word??) be aware that if there's lightning in the area all unloading is stopped until that threat is gone. With Central Florida being the lightning capital of the US, that happens pretty often during the summer and early fall.

We have flown in late to MCO and highly recommend picking up your own luggage at this time of day, even if you are using ME to get to your hotel. It took us for ever to get to our hotel as we were the very last drop off and then our luggage took even longer. All we wanted to do was go to sleep! When we arrived (it was after 8 but before 10, I don't remember the exact time) the airport was fairly quiet and the ME didn't have a line... our flight was one of the only ones at the time. I am sure that the claim wasn't slow or terribly busy.

Another time we took ME and DH got the luggage while I checked in at ME. He was to ME right after I got us checked in and we got right on the bus.

It probably does vary from day to day, but I think if you come in after 8 or so in the evening, you won't have the same crowds as the day time.

Thanks everyone. We will be arriving after 8pm, so with a little luck I'll get the luggage and DW will get us checked in at ME.

In my experience, Orlando tends to be one of those airports where the wait for luggage is longer than most others. I'm not sure they will let your wife check in for Magical Express if you and your luggage are not present. When I've used Magical Express in the past, I've been asked very explicitly if all members of my party are present.

I can't remember the last time I used baggage claim at MCO. I always use DME or like my last visit to MCO for my DCL we only took carry on's.

I can't recall waiting more then 15 minutes for my bags to come out. That's in addition to the time it takes to get from the gate to the carousel.

We've flown in early in the morning and late at night and the bags are usually there in a few minutes......we usually get off the plane (the last gate at the end of the concourse), make a pit stop (with a kid or two), then make our way to bag claim and wait a few minutes (less than 10) and bags start flowing.......

Linda~ Have you ever been to PIT? It seems that bags take forever there! (Especially later in the evening).

I have, but never as a final destination so time to luggage distribution was never an issue.
