Pop Century Refurb?

I just saw on a different site pictures of a refurbed room in the 70's at Pop.
I haven't heard anything about this, is this something new?
Are they going to do all the rooms this way, and if so when will they all be done?

We are going in October and want to stay in the 80's again, but would like a refurbed room cause they look very nice.

On another website, they mentionned it, and said it would take 10 months for all the rooms to be refurbished.

The looked on the other site and couldn't see any info. However I don't frequent it enough to know where I would find such info. I had just seen they had updated pictures.

I guess I will wait and see how far they are when we are almost there and make a decision then.

Saw those pics on the site you referred to....It will be nice to see have the flat screen TV's and the smaller cabinet....make the rooms feel bigger!

Other than that, it only looks like a change in the bedspread.

I'm not complaining, mind you, as we are big fans of Pop just the way it is!

Yes, it looks like they didn't change too much. It looks like they painted one wall blue, new shower curtain,new carpet, and a curtain between the room and vanity area too.

I don't know when they started but I hope they will have a lot done by the time we go in October.

Pop Century is getting a mini rehab. This rehab has consisted of as of right now: new carpet, change of bed spreads, removal of wall border ( may be replaced eventually), the wall directly behind head boards had been painted a bolder blue color, a privacy curtain between the vanity area and the bed area, new dressers with flat screen TV’s, and new shower curtains. It is rumored that eventually all room will get a mini fridge, but we will see. Most if not all rooms got new mattresses in 2008. They have started with the 70’s building and are working through the resort. It should take about 12 weeks to complete the entire rehab.

This is so exciting my family loves going to pop century. Maybe if any one has stayed at pop we can keep each other posted on the update. If you stay in a building that had been affected by the rehab just post the building /section. This would be a great way to keep updated on the progress.

We'll be there in June, requesting the 60's section, so I'll post the status of what we find then! We love Pop the way it is, but sure, refurb would be great!

Woohooo just saw the new refurb room pics from POP!!! They look GREAT!! Not that there was anything wrong with the previous decor!!!! Cant wait till August to see in person!!

I saw the pictures too and thought it looked nice, but the one thing people seem to like I will miss....the tv cabinet now is smaller, which means much less drawers and room to put stuff (and in a smaller room for a week, for us, those are needed!).

As for the TV, I can't remember watching TV while I was at WDW, so couldn't care less the size or if it is flat.

The old cabinets had 6 drawers and several "cubby holes:". It looks like the new ones have just three drawers....DH and I will be fighting over drawer space for sure, and I do not like having suitcases open for a week, prefer to unpack.....I am always the one that trips over those suitcases at night!
